Halloween is actually like Christmas Eve. The night before a Christian holy day.
It is the eve of All Saint's Day or All Hallows Eve or Halloween.
But just like Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday), Halloween has taken on a life of its own.

Halloween ... are you religiously celebrating Halloween like in Wicca? If not, well, you're just participating in a cultural event. Keep away from breaking laws ... don't get to drunk ... and make sure you make it to Mass on November 1, & 2: All Souls & All Saints Days ... Days of Holy Obligation.

Why not? If you are catholic, then you know halloween is All Hollows eve. Nothing satanic about it. That's just hollywood...
