My dog used to eat grass all the time. Dogs will eat anything when they get hungry. Or, sometimes it means the dog is digesting some food.

Well, dogs may be carnivores, but they do need their share of vegetables as well, so your dog may be eating grass to curve this need. Try finding a dog food that offers both vegetables as well as meat, and this should take care of the problem.
Another reason that a dog might eat grass is that their tummy is upset. This doesn't necessairly mean that your dog is sick, since they get tummy aches just like we do, but one thing that might be making him feel sick is that he could have worms. Dogs eat grass to settle their stomachs when they are upset, and if that is being caused by worms then a simple dewormer that you can buy at Walmart should take care of it.
However, this wont stop your dog from eating grass all together. Just let him do it, and don't worry about it too much.

Don't fret., all dog's eat grass. While it may obtain minimal nutrition from the grass, the reason this usually occurs is that the dog has eaten something ELSE, that isn't sitting well on its stomach. The grass will, if eaten in sufficient quantity, not only buffer the "bad food" it got ahold of, but cause it to vomit, removing the offending substance. 'Might wanna put Fido outside for a little while.

Dogs sometimes eat grass or weeds to induce vomiting,
but common Bahia grass contains a chemical that helps
to regulate their digestion. If your dog only does this
occasionaly, the problem should right itself in a day or two.
Cats will do this also, even though they don't usually
need help with hairballs.

It means his stomach is upset. The grass makes him vomit and I think that is a dog's way of trying to purge whatever is upsetting its stomach.
My dog is a Silky Terrier and apparently dogs like him get upset stomachs often (and he will eat grass). Our vet has me give him 1/4 of a Pepsid AC and feed him a little less until his stomach issues go away.
I would talk to your vet if your dog is eating grass like mad--he could have something else going on with him.

Well, dogs eat grass, but that doesn't mean it's normal. Chances are the dog is suffering with an upset tummy. If he keeps doing it, make an appointment to get him to his vet. If after a day or two he stops then he just had a tummy ache. Just watch him closely and look for other things that may signal pain, like excessive licking, chewing, whining, etc.

Your dog may be feeling sick, and is eating grass so that he can vomit, to make himself feel better.
OR - he's lacking nutrients in his diet - and is trying to get these - make sure you are feeding your dog a good quality food (eg. Performatrin, Nutro, Technical, Wellness, Fromm, Etc. Something that has 'real' meat as the first ingredient - and no filler in the first three (such as corn or white rice).

It probably means your dog likes grass. Or maybe he has an upset stomach and needs to throw up, but he probably just likes grass, nothing to worry about, my dog does it all the time.
