Experiments and the high density of diamonds tell us that they crystallize at very high pressures. In nature this means that diamonds are created by geologic processes at great depth within Earth, generally more than 150 kilometers down, in a region beneath the crust known as the mantle. Other processes bring diamonds to where people can find them.

The three concentric layers of the Earth -- the core, mantle, and crust -- formed within a few hundred million years of Earth's coalescence 4.5 billion years ago. The core makes up a large fraction of the mass of Earth. The mantle is between the core and the thin crust and is composed of magnesium and iron silicate minerals. Diamonds can form in most of Earth's interior but not near its surface, where graphite is the stable form of carbon. Diamonds only survive at Earth's surface because great heat is required to break down the diamond structure.

So, if diamonds form in the ancient mantle, how do you explain how long this process takes?

# All diamonds are at least 990,000,000 years old.

Many are 3,200,000,000 years old (3.2 billion years)!!!
How do we know this?

Age: from Carbon dating? NO! C-dating only works for very young carbon. You need to use other radioactive decay schemes (e.g., uranium-lead) to date inclusions in diamonds. Inclusions used for dating are around 100 microns in diameter (0.1 mm).

Personally, I don't believe creationism necessarily reasons that the earth was formed only some 6000 years ago. I consider myself a creationist, but acknowledge the scientifically proven fact that the earth was formed roughly 4.5 billion years ago. I don't believe that there is anything in the Bible that really contradicts that, as long as it is interpreted correctly.

Diamonds are a creationist’s best friend

Radiocarbon in diamonds: enemy of billions of years

Carbon

What do hard sparkling diamonds and dull soft pencil ‘lead’ have in common? They are both forms (allotropes) of carbon. Most carbon atoms are 12 times heavier than hydrogen (12C), about one in 100 is 13 times heavier (13C), and one in a trillion (1012) is 14 times heavier (14C). Of these different types (isotopes) of carbon, 14C is called radiocarbon, because it is radioactive—it breaks down over time.
Radiocarbon dating

“ The presence of radiocarbon in these diamonds where there should be none is thus sparkling evidence for a ‘young’ world, as the Bible records. ”
Some try to measure age by how much 14C has decayed. Many people think that radiocarbon dating proves billions of years.1 But evolutionists know it can’t, because 14C decays too fast. Its half-life (t½) is only 5,730 years—that is, every 5,730 years, half of it decays away. After two half lives, a quarter is left; after three half lives, only an eighth; after 10 half lives, less than a thousandth is left.2 In fact, a lump of 14C as massive as the earth would have all decayed in less than a million years.3

So if samples were really over a million years old, there would be no radiocarbon left. But is this not what we find, even with very sensitive 14C detectors.4
Diamonds

Diamond is the hardest substance known, so its interior should be very resistant to contamination. Diamond requires very high pressure to form—pressure found naturally on earth only deep below the surface. Thus they probably formed at a depth of 100–200 km. Geologists believe that the ones we find must have been transported supersonically5 to the surface, in extremely violent eruptions through volcanic pipes. Some are found in these pipes, such as kimberlites, while other diamonds were liberated by water erosion and deposited elsewhere (called alluvial diamonds). According to evolutionists, the diamonds formed about 1–3 billion years ago.5
Dating diamonds

Geophysicist Dr John Baumgardner, part of the RATE research group,6 investigated 14C in a number of diamonds.7 There should be no 14C at all if they really were over a billion years old, yet the radiocarbon lab reported that there was over 10 times the detection limit. Thus they had a radiocarbon ‘age’ far less than a million years! Dr Baumgardner repeated this with six more alluvial diamonds from Namibia, and these had even more radiocarbon.

The presence of radiocarbon in these diamonds where there should be none is thus sparkling evidence for a ‘young’ world, as the Bible records.

Were you aware the Big Bang theory came from a practising Catholic Priest and Einstein gave him a standing ovation for his prediction that cosmic background radiation would confirm this fact.

Were you also aware that the actual term used by Darwin (which was found acceptable by Catholics and Jewish theologians) was "Natural Selection" -- that means' a "choice" was involved.

How come non-believers aren't aware of what they use as source material for their defeatest thesis?

Big Bang paralells Gensis

Natural Selection is very close in definition to Intellegent Design

Science is very close to Brave New World, today. In the next 200 years they will be "making" beings. Scientists will perfect "Intellegent Design"

What are your moral views on Science making creatures? What will we use these creatures for? Minning coal? Testing new pharmacuitals? Test pilots? Servants?

What do we do when they turn out to be flawed. Exterminate them?

We're going be facing this problem and it's more important than diamonds.

One day Science will be able to make a diamond artifically that can't be told from a real diamond, especially if you "intellgentily design flaws" in the diamond.

There ia great debate over what a Day is for God.

Science still can't tell you were all the MASS of the universe that made the Big Bang came from, other than it was ALWAYS THERE.

What science has, and always dealt with, is the nuts and bolt of why things work and how things occured.

Let's add Genetics to the mix

Why don't Africans naturally produce red headed albinos with blue eyes?

Why don't Chinese naturally produce black skinned people with curly hair?

Why don't American Indians have Sickel Cell Anemia naturally.

Why don't South Americans get Ty Sacks dieseas naturally.

You saying "random nature" is segregrated and racist.

Nature keeps blacks with blacks naturally, whites with whites, naturally, yellows with yellos naturally and then our own FREE WILL alterna nature?

You think you can get Black people to accept this wonderful theory of how segregated life began on Earth!

Remember, God is capable of doing anything, including having his own son on Earth criusified to make a point.

What is nature's point.

How does Natural Selection end up segregating eveyrone?

Did we come from different species of monkeys?

Is Planet of the Apes real?

Some from the Great Apes, some from Chimps, some from ORangutangs?

Is that how we got the Races?

Genetics SAYS the recessive GENE must ALWAYS manifest it self, no matter how infrequently.

Races defeat that scientific concept. No race shows traits of other races, hence except for RELIGION, which says we all came from Adam and Eve, we are NOT brothers under the skin as defined by science. Maybe cousins, but not brothers and sisters. We are NOT that close realated.

Everyone, enjoy your non-religious, scientifically based views of a racist world.

God and religion does not view the world that way. We ALL came from the same source, the SAME creator. If we are different it's for a reason.

There are different answers that you may hear to your question. Some may say that God created a mature world, and thus He may have created diamonds in the mantle, as well as dispersed them throughout the crust. Others may say, and probably will, that there is no God. I will admit that I do not know the answer. I lean towards the idea that a day to God does not mean the same thing as a day to us. A day to God is a thousand years to God, as the Bible says. I believe in creation, that each thing was created instantaneously as it was supposed to be. I believe humans were created human, etc. But I also question the validity of aging the earth to less than 7,000 years old. I again stress that I don't know the answers.

Why do you assume that diamonds were not part of the original earht but have only formed since them? God clearly made the world with all the complexities it has.

New diamonds become created during volcanic eruptions often, though they are much smaller than those found in an old deposit.

Great question! Theistic evolution is an attempt to interprept the Bible in such a way (that Genesis is metaphorical) to fit evolution into the Bible and claiming that God controlled evolution. Unfortunately, there are many verses that just don't fit including order of creation, time period, geneology of Jesus (in Luke), Jesus statements on creation and Adam and Eve, sin before death(Not death before sin), etc. Catholics , Anglican / Episcopal, UCC, ELCA and Methodists generally follow Theistic Evolution. Some like ELCA claim that they have no position on it even though many of their churches and Pastors are following it. Intelligent Design is a recognition of the complexity of the life and its irreducuble complexity. ID focuses mainly on the biology rather than other disciplines like geology, cosmology, etc. It does not specify who that the Designer is unlike Creationism which points to God.

Diamonds have been created in a lot less time than that. There's a huge market for artificial diamonds, made with much lower temperatures and pressures than that that you mention...

very in depth.. wow! as I see it, God created the world in 7 days... what is a "day" to God? could a day be 100 million years? could a "day" really only be 24 hours? or is it just a blink of an eye? Not much of an answer...my apologies!

I can't. But I like what you said.
Makes me think.
How long would it take the Earth to Cool Off to this Stage we are in now?
Some Scientist out there should be able to put it all together.

And on the sixth day God created Dinosaur bones and made them appear mighty old and cast them deep into the earth. He then created diamonds and oil and cast them down too. He then created carbon dating and said it was good.
