My brother is getting married in a couple of weeks, and I am stumped for an idea for a gift. I would like to get something useful, as they are both very practical people (especially with money), but since it is my only sibling, I would also like it to have a personal/meaningful aspect to it as well. I was curious if anyone had any ideas to share. I need some inspiration! I am trying to find something somewhat unique too (no picture frames or clocks). They are very adventurous and love the outdoors as well, so I was going to try and incorporate that somehow. I know, it's a lot of information, but any ideas/anecdotes of past gifts might trigger some ideas. Thanks so much for any help!!

Give them a weekend get away at a cabin. Alot of these cabins are in very rustic settings but have the amenities of a great hotel including hot tubs,, fire places and ac/heat. Email me if you need a suggestion in Missouri, I can recommend a good one.

Unless you are under guardianship from your brother and sister in law (which means you are under 18) then you should give a gift of your own. The only exception to the rule is if you were invited WITH you brother and sister in law then you may combine the gift. I think you should ask them though what they want to do because they may decide to go ahead and do their own gift. Do know though that it is not uncustomary for guests to combine money to buy a large gift that the bride and groom registered for.

What about a really nice tent with some camping this.... otherwise cash is always a gret gift. I would also look into making a DVD of pictures of both of them as children and together. This is a great gift and fun... This was done for me and it was my favorite gift.

Well, maybe you can get them some camping equipment, or something like that that you know they'll enjoy. Or a gift certificate for a trip to the mountains. My brother's getting married in March, and I'm making him and his wife a quilt (hopefully!) ;-)

For my wedding, my brother gave me and my husband a hand carved mahogany keep sake box, that had pictures in it of us (husband and myself) over the years and while we were dating. My brother also broke into my house (not really he has a key) and took the rose that I had pressed from my husband from our first date and put it in a tiny frame and put that in their. On the box he had our wedding date engraved, and our last name with the established. ...ex "Lewis Family, established May 6, 2006."
I know my brother doesn't have a lot of money, so I cant imagine it was too expensive. I think that it was more time consuming trying to gather the pictures from family and getting the little things out of my house to put in it.

Make a gift basket for them with camping stuff. Flashlights, camping mugs, those blow up mattresses, a small tent, etc. I make these themed baskets all the time, and everyone looks forward to them. I just made a "margarita night" one, it's lots of fun. Go to llbean.com for some ideas too. It's the best place to shop for outdoor gear, and has the best guarantee.

There are some cool gifts in the "Gifts For Newlyweds" section of this site called http://www.HomeGrownMarket.com - there's a cool fused tic tac toe game perfect for any newlywed's coffee table - besides you're supporting the small businesses and entrepreneurs who handcraft (NOT mas produced) products in our country!
