When has religion not been responsible for death and destruction? Find me one era in our history where religion wasn't used to justify the killing of others. Religion sucks. Period!

No, it is politics gone mad that is destroying the world.
Religion is about learning how to get along with your fellow man.
Politics is about getting all you can for your interests and the interests of those that support you.
Unfortunately, religion is a convenient straw man for the politicians of the world.
The blood and gore of the Old Testament was the politics that surrounded the joining of several tribes of Israelis that joined to overcome the people who were keeping them as slaves (they were forced to make bricks out of mud and straw, and the last straw was when their quota was doubled for half their rations).
The result was a fight for their own patch of desert real estate.
If you boil down all the fighting in the world, it is about wanting something that someone else has, or keeping something that someone else wants.
It is the politicians who have the power to build the armys.
In the past, when there was no organized government, and whenever a religious organization stepped in to fill the gap, it encouraged the wrong type of person to become involved (those who want power, not those who want to serve).
Religion needs to be protected from politicians!
Religious power dwells in service, not political power! It does not deserve to be saddled with the actions of ambitious politicians

1) Please use spell check next time. All your misspellings gave me a headache, sorry.
2) Horrible things have been done in the name of religion. However, religion is not the SOURCE of the problem. The source of the problem is MAN.
Wonderful things are done in the name of religion, too. There are churches with outreach programs, in which they feed and clothe the homeless. There are other religious people who preach peace and love. And there are yet others who have medical training, and bring medicine to those who wouldn't have it otherwise.
What needs to happen is MANKIND needs to evolve, and realize that God's name cannot be used as an excuse to do horrible things to each other. That's it.
On the other hand, maybe you're right, and the evil in mankind will destroy us.

I'm catholic, but I don't shove my beliefs down people's throats or act as a RECRUITER.

The problem with modern day religions, is that they all promote recruiting. How many times from my baptist friends: "Hey come to church and bible class with me!"

I never offered to bring my friends to mass growing up. It's not my place. I was born into catholicism, and it's a parents decision where you should go to church.

Every religion I can think of wants recruits...ISLAMISTS, baptists, everything pretty much except catholics and jews want to bring in more money, more members, more influence. It's getting less and less about god, and more and more about power and politics.

Religions don't kill people or destroy their property, other people do that. If a person makes up his mind to go to war the one can always find an excuse, if not religion then something else. For people to blame war on religion and not the people waging it is to abrogate the personal responsibility attendant with having free will. If I hit someone in the mouth it's because I, and no one else, chose so to do, I can't blame it on anyone else. Blaming it on religion is a cop out, nothing more.

You are not far to see what is going to happen.

In the symbolism of Revelation, Babylon the Great is referred to as a “great city,” a “kingdom” that rules other kings. (Rev. 17:18) Like a city, it would have many organizations within it; and like a kingdom that includes other kings in its domain, it would be international in scope. It is described as having relations with political rulers and contributing much to the wealth of men in commerce, while itself being a third element that “has become a dwelling place of demons” and a persecutor of “prophets and of holy ones.”—Rev. 18:2, 9-17, 24.

Ancient Babylon was outstandingly noted for its religion and its defiance of Jehovah (Gen. 10:8-10; Dan. 5:22, 23;

An ancient cuneiform inscription reads: “Altogether there are in Babylon 53 temples of the chief gods, 55 chapels of Marduk, 300 chapels for the earthly deities, 600 for the heavenly deities, 180 altars for the goddess Ishtar, 180 for the gods Nergal and Adad and 12 other altars for different gods.”—Quoted in The Bible as History (New York, 1964), W. Keller, p. 301.

Reasonably, therefore, Babylon the Great as referred to in Revelation is religious. Being like a city and an empire, it is not limited to one religious group but includes all religions that are in opposition to Jehovah, the true God.

Why is it urgent to get out of Babylon the Great without delay?

Rev. 18:4: “Get out of her, my people, if you do not want to share with her in her sins, and if you do not want to receive part of her plagues.”

Rev. 18:21: “A strong angel lifted up a stone like a great millstone and hurled it into the sea, saying: ‘Thus with a swift pitch will Babylon the great city be hurled down, and she will never be found again.’”

Luke 21:36: “Keep awake, then, all the time making supplication that you may succeed in escaping all these things that are destined to occur, and in standing before the Son of man.”

Only those who are close minded enough to force their beliefs onto others. If we all stopped and realized that we can all live peaceful with separate beliefs this would stop. What is holy about war? Absolutely nothing. There is nothing to be gained by brainwashing, murdering, or forcing others to believe the same as you. Religion will speak to every one in a very specific and unique way... Let it go at that.

Well- you are on the right track, but a little confused. Yes, you are right about what the Catholic church did, and the Muslims. But you are talking about "religions", Not God. You and everyone else must not confuse these religions with Christianity. I know some say they are Christian, and they may even look like Christians but they are not. Jesus is the answer-not Mohammad or the pope. Put your trust in Jesus and not in these false religions.

A big part of what you wrote is true. But, keep in mind that the number of people who are doing these awful things are very small in comparison with the number of peaceful religious people.

Not really, its humans that are destroying the world, people just hide behind religion to kill others. They also think that religion justifies their actions, but really it doesn't, they just view it in a way that will try and confirm their actions.

it is not faith that defines people. it truly is those that define religions. In different words, there'll be no thank you to have a single faith.. ever. There are 2 many diverse cultures of folk each and each with their own gadgets of ideals. whether there have been a single faith, you may nonetheless have a branch between people who stick to it and people who do no longer.
