I have one that will unmake the top of the bed to get under the covers. As for laying on your clothes I believe it may be a comfort thing being near your scent.

Cats are comfort creatures. Warm blankets or clothing warmed by you
are exactly what they are looking for. Provide a variety of different blankets, boxes with fluffy pillows, on all different levels and they will love you forever.

Absolutely "some sort of affection"! Your cat loves you! He wants to burrow in your scent.

Of course it's affection, they smell like you, and yes everyone has their own unique scent. Kitty is just letting you know that they like you and are protective of you and your stuff. Be glad Kitty hasn't decided to bring you presents yet to show their affection.

It is warm, and cats love to be warm, but it also has to do with you. Your cat feels secure with you, and he envelopes himself in your scent by laying in your clothing and blankets.

The reason for both is that it is warmer that way.
The blankets cos he can snuggle right in and your clothes cos they are stull warm from your body

No, your cat is tired or telling that he loves you by cuddling up to something that belongs to you.
