If you are the bride, what ever you feel would go good at your wedding. It is your own personal preference. If you are the bridesmaid, what ever the bride says you are wearing. If the bride doesn't specify, then something nice but don't over do it, you don't want to take attention away from the bride. Any length will work, like i said, personal preference. Depending on what your color scheme is, will help determine the color of the dress. I asked my bridesmaids for ideas and they each emailed me a pic of a dress they liked, then i forwarded the pics to all the bridesmaid of the ones i liked best, and got their votes on it. In the end, i think the bridesmaids were happier because they had some say in what they were wearing.

Poofy, stiff, uncomfortable and usually unflattering.
Honestly, it depends on the type of wedding. Is the bride wearing a formal gown? If so, then the bridesmaid gown will usually be floor length. You can also judge from the time of day. Generally speaking, the later in the day, the more formal the wedding and the attire. I would do a google (or similar) search and you can find loads of pictures.
The most important thing to remember is that it's the bride's day and a bridesmaid's job is to support her and basically wear what she asks you. Of course a nice bride will take her bridesmaids into account and ask for their input.

It's up to the bride. Many are floor-length, many are tea-length. I like the tea-length ones, myself. There's no one proper way it should look, as the bride chooses the bridesmaid's gowns as well as her own. She usually chooses styles for the bridesmaids that reflect the style of the wedding gown itself. Typically, they're poofy and unflattering. I know one bridesmaid who was up all night before the wedding crying her eyes out because she hated the dress so much - it was very unflattering to her, and she had to parade around in front of every one in it. Very sad.
Brides should at least be considerate of the bridesmaid's tastes and preferences when choosing their gowns.

Is English your first language? If so I have to agree with learning to speak it a little better...if English is your second language then you are doing fine but I have to say you need to word your question "what" at the beginning - not "how."
There is no fashion God of etiquette that says you should have your bridesmaid dresses a certain way. If you are the bride then look at lots of dresses. Pick dresses that compliment your personality and your tastes. Don't worry about what is "in" or not.
Also one thing you might consider though, if you want to keep your bridesmaids at friends then you might consider the bridesmaids figures and what you dress them in. For example, If they are all really heavy women you might not want to pick skirts that poof out making all the bridesmaids look bigger than before.
hope this helps...good luck with the wedding

It all really depends on a bride's own taste. Some prefer dresses that are about ankle length , knee length, or even floor length. It can have ruffles, be incredibly ornate or just really simplistic.

It all depends on what the bride wants. There are no rules but something classy and all the same thing.
