I am trying to find the number of spectators who attended the PGA TOUR from 1993 to 2003. I am trying to see if there is a correlation between Tiger Woods and the popularity of the sport.

Popularity has increased significantly because of Tiger Woods. Attendance is up but for different factors. Golf course design for championship courses often takes spectator into consideration and the new courses generally hold more spectators. The older great courses like Augusta, Firestone, Shinnecock and the like were mostly used in the major and always sold out pre Tiger. TV coverage including the golf channel and the evolution of the equipment and balls has made the game easier to play and thus more popular. To get a better correlation look at the improvement in TV rating for tournaments in which Tiger plays versus tournament in which he does not. I don't have the numbers but I have heard it said there is as much as a 50% difference.

Look at the event winnings amounts and how they've climbed and you've got your answer. That money comes from fans and (mostly) from sponsors. Since Tiger, purses have skyrocketed. Also, TV rating go up 200-300% when Tiger is playing.

i can answer that without looking at data the answer is there is probably a correlation around 1 because Tiger has made golf "cool" for younger people to play and has brought a resurgence for the middle aged used to be golfer.
