For my Technical writing class at New Mexico State University, I have to write a letter to congress about what we should do about the war in Iraq. My letter can not have anything to do with my opinion or biases. I would like to know what others think about the situation and what should be done.

STOP _ IMMEDIATELY>
The world is being polluted daily by the depleted uranium shells that are being used in Iraq. This is one of the most viscious weapons of mass destruction known to man. There is no way can a country that uses DU be considered to be a civilised nation.
And it's not polluting just Iraq - its blowing all over the world. It has been detected as far away as London, and is causing an enormous rise in the number of cancer patients world mwide.

The U.S. had no business going there in the first place. But now they are there and this situation exists and it wont go away. The last time the U.S. cut and run was Vietnam .The vacuum created bt their withdrawal creates the political climate for the Khmer rouge to rule for 4 years in Cambodia.2 000,000 peolple died there.
With the Sunni - Shiite debacle coming to pass in Iraq.( just like us tin foil hat liberals said it would) I think that it would be morally reprehensible to leave Iraq at this time in its history. On the contrary the military now needs a clear agenda and all the might that the U.S. can muster. If that were to happen a lot of American boys are going to get killed. But if we leave Iraq then the result would be catastrophic.Iraq would revert to its state of helll after a lenghthy civil war.
I am not saying this is the right thing to do but we know that the half assed approach doesnt work either. How many troop s are there now?140.000 I think.Nowhere near enough.

First we need a clearly defined achievable objective, all we get from Bush are nebulous generalities. A War on Terrorism? Terrorism is the act of using terror as a weapon, how do we wage war on an act? Not on the people performing the act, but on the act itself? We might as well declare a War on the Pulling of Triggers. To spread Democracy? You can't Nation Build until you have crushed all opposition, and then occupied and pacified the country. That is what we did in Germany and Japan. South Korea wanted us there, and we still are, in Japan and Germany as well. North Korea didn't want us there and we never got in. In Viet Nam they simply prolonged the fighting until public outcry forced the government to pull out, something the Iraqis haven't forgotten even if the Republicans have. The function of the military is kill people and destroy property, anything that can't be accomplished by those means is not a job for the military. Our soldiers are not peace officers or policemen, those are jobs requiring totally different skills. What, precisely, is the military over there to accomplish? People talk about winning, but win what? People talk about staying the distance, distance to where, how much farther? People talk about supporting the troops, Great! Shouldn't we be supporting them with adequate equipment, supplies, and manpower? Do whatever it takes to conquer Iraq and set up a Government of our choice, or go away and let them sort it out for themselves, we have no other options. Not deciding is a criminal waste of our peoples lives.

We need to finish the job there. We must teach the Iraqi people how to protect their own government. We must teach the Iraqi people how to have a free society. There has never been a freely elected democracy in the Middle East. It is a foreign concept to the Middle East.

We need to shut up traitors like Ted Kennedy who say we are losing and cannot win. All this negative does is embolden the enemy. When they see leaders saying we cannot win, they think that they have a chance and keep on fighting. There is a line that speech crosses from freedom to treason and many liberals cross it.

We need to let our military destroy things and kill people. Terrorists hide out in mosques, schools, etc. They know that if we hit those spots, it will be all over the tv. We need to get rid of the media over there.

We are fighting this war like Vietnam. We are going to lose if we allow the media to turn Americans against the war on terror. We are at critical mass.

Let the military fight the war.
Keep the politicians out of the war planning.
Give the soldiers on the ground clear and distinct orders, and back them up. Why tell the soldiers to arrest/apprehend insurgents if the higher-ups are just going to let them go. Insurgents need to be killed or jailed until hostilities cease.
Apply pressure to the Iraqi government to talk a strong stance against any and all that support the insurgency even those that are members of the government.

I think the worst part about the war in Iraq (yes, worse than all of the death and destruction) is the ignorant things flying out of people's mouths in protest against the war. Ignorance only breeds more ignorance. It creates a tomorrow of the same problems over and over again. Yes, people can be against the war, but at least have a good reason and not a stupid one.

First, remove the media. Then let the troops do whatever they need to get the job done. Last, take out the Senators that keep playing to the media. Most of these Senators get the intel briefs in the morning, and by mid afternoon they are talking to the media along party lines vice the truth. Won't say how I know this, but I do, It's pathetic.

Alright cool. I KNOW we are supposed to be over there. It is crazy how many people don't support our troops and think we should "leave them alone". Can you imagine how much worse everything would be had we left them alone? Do they actually think they would leave us alone because we decided to be nice? We've been "nice" for the past 25 years and they haven't "left us alone". So now we go over there to try and stop the bastards who keep trying to kill you, me, your cousin, every infidel (infidel to them) in America and we complain about some of the stupidest ****. Support the troops, believe in them, no matter what they are doing. People don't have to pray for them to kill, just pray for their safety and their families. We got rid of Saddam, one man who wouldn't leave us alone, and Americans complain. They complain about the one President with a pair, yet they forget about what has happened in the last couple of years because of the people he has decided to rid the world of as well as he can. No they will never all be gone because they interpret their religion and try to enforce it by killing infidels which, in alot of ways, are us Americans. Bill Clinton was offered Bin Laden's head(<--Fun fact) by (I think) UAE, aka United Arab Emirates. I have lots more information backing our offensive on them Al-queda who want to kill me, and since you are an American (liberal or not) they want to kill you too. So, I conclude this with what I KNOW should be done:Continue what we are doing or nuke the entire country (I prefer the first one otherwise we would kill everyone that we are over there trying to protect and we would probably be nuked ourselves, lol). I think it is funny hiw liberals can't get in their heads how the Al-queda would not cease to kill them either, and the only way to avoid that is to act as if all of them are badguys (children or not) until the war is concluded. It sounds prejudice, but who's fault is it they let their own people become who some of them have become? If you think I mean the Middle Easterners in America too, well, that is your decision.

First talk about the cost, I believe it is nearing 2 BN a week. Talk about the troops and the lack of equipment, and the back to back deployments. Since we can't pack our bags and leave, suggest moving the troops out of the cities and leave policing to the police and we will defend the country as a whole.

Give the military permission to finish the job properly. Also, get Tommy Franks back in charge.
