Typically what the bride wants her to wear. If there are going to be others in the brides party, their dresses would normally match in color, with the maid of honors being slightly different in style. Discuss options with the bride, if you are the bridesmaid, just remember this is her day, and you want to make her happy, but don't be afraid to speak up on your opinion if she is willing to ask for suggestions. If you are the bride, then don't forget that the bridal party doesn't want to out do you, but they don't want to look like Vegas show girls either.

Judging by the bridesmaid dresses I have seen, a bridesmaid has to wear a dress she looks awful in, of the worst possible style, the most unbecoming color and....let's not forget....it absolutely HAS to make her look fat and she won't ever be able to wear it to any other function (nor will she want to).

If all the brides would just remember what it felt like to look like a blown-up "something" when she was a bridesmaid, we'd all be a lot happier and the wedding photographs would be a lot prettier!

She should wear what the bride picks, hopefully the bride is nice and will take her bridesmaids opinions to heart.

Pretty much the bride will choose dresses that complement her own dress. So one is not casual and the other formal, just depends on what type of wedding is being planned.

they are usually a lot simpiler than the bride's dress. you might want to check out some dresses they have at bridal stores. they are very simple, but they look good. they are also usually all the same color and style. but sometimes the maid of honor has a different shade from the other bridesmaids.

She wears what the bride picks. Traditionally, the bride picks a dress in a color not found in nature that cannot possibly be worn anywhere else. I currently have three of those.

Ask the bride... the main rule of thumb is never look better than the bride on her day.

Unless the bride wants her bridemaids all to look the same,
umm ummm errr, uh,

Maybe you had better ask her.

Just don't draw attention away from the bride, O.K.?
