Sometimes it just takes a while for the medication to kick in. The doctors still have to figure out the correct combination for her. (Ask your doctor about a drug called Levetiracitam, it might be helpful to add that on to your daughters current medication). I'm not saying to add anything on just yet, if you're going to a neurologist than they probably know what they're doing, but they can't rush any changes in her medication regime, it will take time unfortunately:-( Good luck, hang in there!

Hi I was on carbamazepine for 4 years. I chose to have the chewable tabs. With this medicine you must have a blood test to monitor your liver level. It is vital that you do this every 4 months. This medicine will affect your liver that is why monitoring it so important. I started out on 3 pills a day and was gradually increased to 7 pills a day. It worked well for me and I am Thankful I was able to stay on it as long as I was. Because of the liver level in one blood test I was then taken off it can am now taking Trileptal. It too has been very good for me as well. With this med. I went from 7 pills a day to only 3.
I too have partial seizures...not full blown. Mine is called Nocturnal Frontal Lobe Epilepsy. It happens only at night in my sleep, seldom waking me up.
I am sorry for your daughter epilepsy...but it comes to be a part of your life and after years you are so accustomed to it, it does not phase you any more. You learn to live around it...nothing to be ashamed of with it, either.

Addition of clonazepam 2 mg may help. If she remains attack free for one month then reduce the dose of carbamazepine. If any attack comes after wards ,must consult your doctor, as being attack free is essential.

Your daughter does certainly have your extensive style. do not exchange something only using fact all human beings is telling you to. in case you experience like this is time, there are steps you are able to take. My daughter took a bottle till she replaced into over 2. She is a splendidly properly rounded person now. in case you experience you prefer to alter this habit, you ought to reassert your administration. exchange your ordinary. regardless of you're doing now, you ought to alter. enable's say you provide her a shower, and then a bottle to circulate to mattress. this night, as a exchange of that, whilst it is close to to bedtime, placed her in her intense chair, with a mild snack. Cheerios and a sprint juice in a sippy cup. Then brush her teeth, provide her a shower, and placed her to mattress. Do a similar element each and every night no remember how lots she fusses. you will understand she isn't hungry or thirsty, so which you would be able to enable her fuss with out feeling responsible. she would be ready to in all possibility awaken in the process the night and initiate up in back whilst she realizes the bottle isn't there. it is ok to circulate in and pat her on the decrease back in case you are able to not stand it, yet do not break down and circulate decrease back to the bottle. she would be ready to have a drink of water from a cup yet then take the cup with you once you circulate away the room. stable success...this is the 1st of many contests of wills you have got..

Take her back to the doctor....the medication level could be too low (needs a blood test..) take her back repeatedly until they find something that will stop the seizures. Good Luck.

my friend had epilepsy, but she went to a specialist and got it under control with diet. she's seventeen now and the worst thing that happens is that she zones out a for a few seconds. check out the "first do no harm" movie. that's my mom's best friend. it can be overcome with diet. find the pediatric area that can help you with it.
