I am having such a hard time deciding on the syle of bridesmaid dresses. I'd like to go with the T-length but I have no idea about the rest. Most my girls are heavy set with large tops. any suggestions?

Take it from a full figured woman, Danielle while completely well meaning is also completely off base. A v-neck is very flattering on big chested woman, that's all I wear. An empire waist actually looks horrible on a big chest, it just emphasizes how large you are and looks like maternity wear, which no one wants. Sleeves ARE nice but only if they aren't tight, then they just make the arms look like sausages.

How about separates? You can pick a skirt and let them pick their own top. An a-line skirt looks good on everyone. I recommend Eden separates, they have a much bigger line than Davids.

I know from experience with my own bridesmaids that T-length doesn't work too well with heavier girls, especially when they're petite.

Try going to http://www.davidsbridal.com. They've got tons of styles and colors, and they usually can get everything in sizes 2 to 26!

As for colors, remember that darker colors (black, navy blue, hunter green, burgundy, etc.) are slimming and may help your girls look thinner. I'm actually going with a lighter green, because it's a neutral color that all of my girls--a brunette, a blonde, two honey-blondes, and a red head--can wear. And the style of dress I chose will help make the heavier ones look slimmer.

And the great thing about David's Bridal is that they offer 2-piece outfits! That way, your girls can get whatever size(s) they need. If they're bigger on top than on bottom, then they can get the different sizes that fit them best, and they don't have to get a dress that will fit them up top and then be HUGE around their butts.

And remember, if nothing else, take them shopping with you, have them try on a bunch of different things, and they can take a vote. If nothing else, consider having them all wear the same color but in different styles that they feel best fit their bodies.

Good luck!

A Line. I am Sexy Succulent (Plus Size) and I would wear this type of dress halters are a good idea because they cover your CLEAVAGE, but also think about getting straps women that are Sexy Succulent usually have large boobs and would like to wear bras so their twins won't hit the floor or sit on their stomach during the ceremony(LOL)(I would need a bra or I would have this problem). Also Shawls could work. Good Luck with the Dress Hunting. Pretty Soon I Hope to do the Same.

perhaps instead of purchasing premade dresses consult with a trusted dress maker buy a flattering fabric that all women will look good in the colours you want then allow each woman to choose their own style that flatters them best and this way each dress will be tailored to each womens individul shape and size and all will look amazing!! ps poster #1- that is an insensitve remark there is no need for comments that are rude and uncalled for the last time i checked this is a question and answers forum if your not constructive dont say anything!!

Your best bet is to take them shopping and find out what looks best. You will probably find that A-Line looks the best on heavier girls. I attached a dress guide that I found online at davids bridal. Now I know it features wedding gowns but it tells the body shapes that are good for what types of dresses. I did find that the best way was to just take the girls shopping!

i would stick with the A line dress. spagetti straps can be used but i would use a sheer shawl draping and then in the front do a split front with a solid under backing , kinda like a medieval style front. that is what i am wearing for my friends wedding which i am the maid of honor in and i am heavy with a big set of " twins". it looks good on me and it hides my belly from having 2 kids.

A-line, don't have the bottom cut across the largest part of the calf - either just below the knee or to the floor, nothing poofy, think simple lines, empire waist is good, but belted is bad & accentuates the width of the waiste, no v necks because they show too, too much cleavage, and heavy set girls usually feel self-conscious about their upper arms, so sleeves to the elbows at least

GREAT advice from maigen.

keep the style SIMPLE; seams going down the dress have a slimming effect.
also go shopping with the girls looking at outfits generally - NOT just bridesmaid things - it will give you an idea of what will suit them all

Their called empire dress they cut very high right under the bust and flow down or ball room both diguise being a little over wieght well since ballroom is more poofy and empire cuts high up and flows down.

I'm having the same problem and I realized this past weekend that the color "black" is slimming and the Halter look also helps with no showing too much cleveage.

So I would try davids bridal and look at the halter top dresses...Also look at their accessory tab and they have those jackets to cover up their arms.
