I not sure what this has to do with religion except maybe to treat ones body as a temple.
A spiritual method you could use to overcome this is not to try quiting but to become hyper aware of when you do smoke. This was a method prescribed by Osho. When you smoke feel the sensation of tapping on the pack. Feel the heat coming off the cigarette as you light it. Taste the smoke as acutely as possible. Be aware of each breath you take in and release. Notice the sensation of the cigarette between your fingers. Take note of any feelings that come up or diminish as you begin to smoke.
In Chinese medicine the lungs have to do with the emotion of grief and is a major reason why I believe many people smoke. It pushes these emotions down until they eventual eat you up often in the form of lung cancer.
In any case try making the act of smoking a meditation and I'd be willing to bet after a will you will not even feel the need to smoke anymore or at least it will make it all the much easier to quit when you are resolute to do so.

You want to quit smoking, stop putting the ciggs in you mouth and lighting them!
Quiting is easy, staying quit is the hard part. Cut down gradually as you get close to your quit date, and start an exercise program. Eat healthy foods and be social. These things will help you during your withdrawal period, also vitamin c is good for detoxing.

Anyone would want to help....just tag our avatars for an email...and ask for accountability. If you come across the "quit because it is a Sin and you are in danger of falling", I would ask someone else who admits sin. Like me..... I sin, but I see it and go for the accountability part. By the way, I got my smoking down by reducing it over a period of time from 2 pax a day to a pack a week....almost done...maybe i'll go with ya

I am also tring to quit and it is really hard.I set my date tomorrow.I would like to keep in touch with you and encourage you to stay a non smoker.I will scold you for picking one up.Not for getting fatter. If you do you can work on that later, because quitting smoking is more important right now.

Please quit. One lady I know is 47 years old. She smoked so much , since she was 14 years old. She kept coughing and then she came down with double Pneumonia. Both Lungs filled up. When she drank liquids she would breath some into her lungs. She almost died. The Doctor told her that her flap that covers her windpipe had shrunken up from all the warm smoke of her years of smoking. The warm smoke caused the windpipe flap to shrink. It will never heal back to the original flap. Now when she swallows, she needs to make herself cough to prevent liquids from going into the windpipe. Perment damage from warm smoke. Quit before it's too late. Good Luck !!

Why does it have to be a Sunday to quit? Any day is a good day to quit. The sooner the better so make it soon.

If I was a Christian, I would pray to Christ that these questions would appear only in categories made for them.
