Yes, love them to bits. And THEY like US more than we give them credit for.

Did you know that an Englishman, in France, is actually considered quite cool? And they think the English accent is sexy!

And, surprisingly, they like quite a lot of our food. Not our cheese or our salads, though.

This might give you an insight: I asked a French friend once, "What do you hate about us most?" He said, "The fact that we like you so much!"

I swear I'm not making this up, been there loads of times.

Paris is OK to visit for the various sites, but I like the secondary cities like Toulouse and Bordeaux. Many people say the French don't like us, but you can't make that generalization across the whole country. Most people's exposure to France is Paris. Paris is a large city full of city-dwellers that spend too much time thinking they are the center of the political and cultural universe. We all know that New York doesn't represent the viewpoint of the rest of America (no offense), neither do Parisians represent the rest of France. I like France, I like French suburban people.

Yes and yes...I thought it was a bit funny that a previous respondent to your question thought it would be a good idea to know a little of the French language !
It is a great country with some lovely people, I will be there next week and I know they will laugh at my language skills, but they will feed me well and make me laugh too.
We are all just people. Some good manners, a little of the local vernacular and a happy outlook will get you by in most places.

I went to Paris last October by myself. The city is beautiful but the french people are jerks. Whenever I got lost or asked for help nobody would help me. It would help out a lot to know a little French. All in all I'm glad I got to see the city. Lot's to see and do there.
