That notion is sometimes heard to make people feel better if they have lost a loved one, etc.
Angels are their own beings created by God for serving him. They are not human.
Too much Hollywood stuff is out there too like wings and sitting on clouds playing harps, etc.
What concerns me is that sometimes people believe in angels but not that they serve God and worship him - and understand that God is greater. Again, I think it is a comfort thing but misguided.
Add to below - some angels are male - Gabriel announced the coming of Jesus. Scripture says that he is an archangel.

There are Angels all over this Earth. They come in many different ways. I have always heard this : Be Kind To A Stranger, Because It Could Be An Angel !! Angels can also be invisable. Like in Cemetaries, there are Angels standing gaurd on all four corners of every cemetary, until Judgement Day. Jesus walks on this Earth and so do Angels. Christians say, that Oh your an Angel. But to actually believe that some people become Angels when they die are not known. Only God knows who will be or are His Angels. I have never heard that before of what you ask.

There are no scriptures to support that. Psalms says 148:1 That the angels were created. Long time before the earth was here.
The angels in Job 38; cried out in aplause when the earth was created. When no humans had been created yet.
They are seperate and distinct spirit persons. With free will no less. They wared in heaven Revelation 12:7 micheal and his angels battled with the devil and his angels.
So they can rebell. They can make decisions. They noticed the daughters of men that they were good looking and went taking wives for themselves. Jude 6
Gen.6 chaper. Do you really believe we are alone in the universe? There are many living creatures out there different from us. These are called spirit persons or creatures and angels.

Angels are never human and humans can never be angels. Angels can take the shape of something or someone to complete a mission that God has sent them on. Just read books by Sylvia Browne she has helped answer alot of my ?'s

God created angels and humans. One does not become the other. People who have died are still human beings, they do not become angels. Angels are spiritual beings while humans are both body and spirit.

The scripture they are refering to in error is the one where Jesus is asked by the Sadducees about a woman w/ multiple husbands. Angels are separate beings - Ez/Rev. and elsewhere. See also the "Nephalim" in Genesis.
My experience suggests the "become angels" thought is more for self-comfort than anything else.

I don't believe in angels. But depending on who's mythology you read, angels seem to have existed before humans. Christians do seem to believe that everyone in heaven achieves angel status. I have no idea where this comes from.

No. Angels are a separate species created by the Holy Spirit to guide and help us. And angels are never male, contrary to Hollywood movies. They work in pairs, one cherubim and one seraphim.
