Cats generally like to touch things you touch. They always claw at your favorite chair. If you spend a lot of time on your laptop, it'll get intrigued. It's a compliment, really. The cat is essentially saying if that thing's important to you, it must be special to me too.
Most cats are clean though. Was it toilet-trained when you got it? You might have to lock yourself in the bathroom for a while and make sure it gets the idea only the box is appropriate. Maybe the cat has a urinary problem. If training doesn't work, you should take it to a vet and see if the animal is ok.

Cat's are curious. Mine likes to send a fax every now and than. I am not sure why but after reading your cat story it maybe the sound of the keys.
If you haven't had your cat 'spayed or neutered' than you had better as a male cat will piss in the house if they are not neutered.
If the cat is 'fixed' and is still pissing around than it probably has a urinary track infection.
In which case it needs to go to the vets.
Call up the Humane Society and get a certificate for getting the cat 'fixed' and you will just have a very intelligent curious cat without the pee.

lol - our cats do that too. First, I think they do it for attention. If they block our line of site with their cute little furry bodies, we have to pay attention to them! Second, the laptop is warm - cats like warmth! Third - some cats are fascinated by watching the little curser move around the screen. Our kitty will watch my husband type away and occasionally try to "catch" the arrow! They are just being curious and wanting your attention. OK - and the peeing is NOT normal. There are several products you can get at the local pet store to help him not spray in certain spots. Direct him to the litter box - give him a treat after he uses it. Is your cat fixed? If not - do that, especially if it's a male, it may help curb the bad habbit. Best of luck!

Because its probably warm. Mine does the same as well, so I generally stop and pay him some attention and or put him in a better place so he still has my attention. That's all it is, attention seeking, so give it to him.
The peeing in the house has to STOP. When he wakes up and after every meal you must take him outside and say 'come on pee pee' or whatever you will, this needs to go on until the cat has done his business. Then pat the cat and tell him he's a good boy.
Use in a spray bottle, straight white vinegar and spray and places that has the cat peed on, it will not leave any marks on the furnishings, and will take away the smell.

Good luck.

my cats do it too. I've got 3 and it is only the confident two that do it. Might be the movement, might be the warmth - but if it bothers you put him out of the room where you are working. But I would suggest you enjoy it for what it is - him loving you and wanting to be with you.

However the peeing - Dont ever, ever rub his nose in it. By the time you catch him he will have forgotten he did it and will have no idea what it is for and it is sooooo cruel. Their sense of smell is vital to them. Best is a water pistol, with plain water, and scoot him WHILE HE IS DOING IT. But is he peeing or spraying. If he lifts his tail and squirts it is not peeing, they squat to pee. And the only difference between a neutered or unneutered cats spray is the smell. Neutered cats dont smell. It is generally done to mark territory - so it is a security issue. Its only our scaredy cat that does that. Our scaredy cat started doing it again when we got the kitten - and stopped when he accepted him. Even a loud clap of your hands will stop him. Give gim lots of love and some patience and keep a cloth handy, it will stop.

If he is peeing, squatting, then it could be that there is a medical issue, or the litter tray needs more frequent cleaning, but I would expect to see poop around too then. it's usually the latter.

Good luck.

Oh dear, poor catty feels neglected and wants attention. If you work at your Pc you can be on it for hours. Cats love company and if your Pc gets the company your cat gets jealous. So it will obviously come and disturb you.

So the answer to this problem is that you need to give your cat some quality time, which does not mean a five minute cuddle after feeding twice a day..But a twenty minute snooze on your lap twice daily plus a ten minute play session. I suggest a rolled up newspaper and piece of string. Great fun. Also cats with very short hair, short haired or long haired all enjoy a gentle grooming session a few times a week.

If your cat has just started peeing in the house than the above is why. If not and she or he has always done this you may have a problem. You therefore need a litter tray which is daily tidied of wee's and poo's and topped up with fullers earth. the sort that clumps and inhibits nasty aromas. If your cat continues this habit after having gone to these lengths of giving it attention and affection, you will have to get strict.

Strict means you dip her nose in it and place the cat on the litter untill the problem is solved. Beware older cats can become incontinent and confused, so in these circumstances you need to feed and immediately place the cat on the litter or let the cat out for a short while to peruse your yard or garden.

Hoping this solves your problem.

If you spend a lot of time on the laptop, then the cat is going to want to be there because that's where your attention is. As for the pee, is it a male cat? It may need to be fixed...or you may have a cat with a urinary tract infection. Either way, go see a vet.

My cat likes to walk across mine also. Or he will try to catch the paper as it comes out of the printer. He does this because he is playing. Movement to them means chase. As for the urinating all over the house he is marking his territory. In order to stop this you will need to get him fixed. If he is already fixed try changing the litter box more often. Because cats are picky they do not like a dirty litter box.

My cat is the same apart from the pissing in the house he just wants attention all the time, not good for the laptop! Try putting vinegar in the water you use to clear the piss it's meant to deter them from doing it again.

My cat walks all over my laptop. Maybe your cat like the heat or maybe it's just that you are near it and he wants to near what is getting attention and he is not.

For peeing in the house answers these:
-Did you let him out in time?
- Did you get any signals that he wanted to go out?
- Litter tray is dirty? (cats are very clean animals; just like humans they will not use a dirty toilet)
- Is he nuetured? (could be marking)
- Do you spend at least 20 mins a day playing with him?

Some "No's" mean something needs to be done. If in doubt ask a vet what could be done.
