well maybe. increase in muscle tone leads to an increase in metabolism, but you should probably work more on running, etc and light weight lifting. then when you get to a healthy desirable BMI (Body Mass Index), you could start the heavier weights. sometimes tho if u start lifting weights rather than fat burning, it just kinda grows muscle beneath the fat and its not good.

The muscles are underneath the fat. Fat cannot turn into muscle. You have to burn more calories than you eat in order to lose the fat. If you still eat more calories than you burn, the muscles will get bigger, but the fat won't go away.
Doing all of those things you mention will burn calories, especially the running, so you are bound to get thinner and more muscular. Good luck!

Exercise helps burn calories...toning exercises help build muscle, which burns more calories (even at rest)...
Be careful and don't overdo, but yeah...it's definitely better to have more muscle, bulk doesn't matter (esp if you're a chick)...just get toned and lose the fat...good luck!

Fat is fat and muscle is muscle...they do not change into one another.
You can REDUCE the amount of fat and increase your muscle mass...but one will not become the other.
ten yrs ago during kidney surgery, the doctors found I had six pack abs...under an inch of fat.
So just working out may not give you the look you want
