Depends on how crinckled the tape gets. I've fixed broken VHS tapes by putting them into a differen't tape. It worked ok for me, but if the tape gets really crinkly, it probably will be jittery and anoying to watch.

I have done this with 8-track and cassette tapes and it worked, so it should work with VHS.

i have fixed many vhs tapes if a part of its really bad you may have to cut and splice it back together of course you will loose part of what ever is on it.
