I always did 15 minutes if the water was boiling before adding, but that leads to broken shells.

This is the method that works really well for me:

Ok, according to Rachael Ray, place your eggs and cold water in the pot. Place it on the stove. Once the water reaches a rolling boil, turn off the heat and place a lid on the pot. Let the eggs sit in the water for 10 minutes. They will be thuroughly cooked, without turning green. Be sure to shock the eggs in cold water before peeling. Hey I know this has been answered already, and by now I'm sure you have boiled your eggs, but this is a good fool-proof way of doing it.

Boiling eggs does not take a long time.I used to do this process to avoid the overcooked and hard boiled eggs..usually if the egg was boiled for a long time the whites and the yolk changed it`s color. It takes five minutes to boil then off the fire but don`t take the eggs from the boiled water just let it soak there not less than five minutes but don`t exceed in 30 minutes .Best result...color of the yolk and white is great..Try it to prove it.

Once the water is boiled remove from heat, cover, allow to sit for 18 mins, then run them under cold water to stop the cooking process.
Also, always start your eggs in cold water to bring to a boil. Your yokes will come out firm and yellow without the grayish film on them that sometimes happens from cooking to long.

put the eggs in cold water in a pan and then when the water starts to boil they will be done in 20 minutes. I have been cooking for years so I can tell you that 12 minutes or 15 minutes is not enough, please let them boil for 20 minutes. Then they will be perfect.

Actually, put the eggs in the water, then turn the heat up high. Total cooking time is 10 minutes...give or take a minute, depending on whether you want the yolk to be completely cooked or slightly runny.

put the eggs in before the water boils..this will prevent "cracking"...bring to a rapid boil for 5 minutes...turn burner off and let sit for 5 additional minutes...(this will prevent the over cooked...grey film over yolk).....drain and rinse with cold water
