I have been in the dental industry 30 years. I can not live with out my Sonicare, once you get used to a electric brush you will never go back to a manual. Have your teeth cleaned by the hygienist and have her show you how to use the electric brush, then go home and use it daily. Your teeth will feel great til the next time you see the hygienist in six months. When you use a manual your teeth feel dirty and you know its time to make your hygiene appointment. I have converted hundreds of patients. Try it you'll love it!

The answer to your question is no and yes.
Either type is only as good as its user but a manual toothbrush cleans as well as an electric toothbrush. An electric toothbrush, particularly the Sonicare, brightens the teeth better than a manual toothbrush. Anyone over 12 should be able to use either one effectively.
Proper brushing and flossing is needed to clean your teeth really well. The Sonicare is by far the best electric toothbrush available. It's been proven to be the best at cleaning and keeping the smile brighter.
I use a Colgate Total toothbrush and a Sonicare. I must use a hard bristle toothbrush to brush my tongue. Also, there are times when I just don't feel like using the Sonicare and use the manual one.

Electric toothbrushes are a great choice and great investment for oral health. They can whiten your teeth as they can remove surface stains more efficiently than a manual toothbrush can. This is because the electric one vibrates at a certain rate. Crest white strips work great as well. Also,if there is a school around the area that has a dental program offered, you can see a dentist there and it is much more inexpensive than a general practice dentist, and you'll still get great care.

Absolutely,
I regular toothbrush does not effectively clean as a motor toothbrush does.
The BEST toothbrush you can purchase is called a Rote-dent. It makes up for all the non flossers out there and it effectively cleans your teeth below the gum line without being so harsh. You can see a remarkable difference in the way your gums look as well as your teeth. You can only purchase as far as I know from a dentist.
