I agree. I think we were much better off as a society before all the drug pushing doctors got friendly with the drug companies. Everyone goes through ups and downs. Our fore-fathers and mothers were able to cope without medication. Everyone now run to shrinks for a quick fix. Unfortunately 90% of the people taking the medication do not realize the drugs have never been accurately tested and cause serious side-effects.

Basically you are SO right; however a friend of mine treated her depression by stepping in front of a computer train in Los Angeles five years ago. This action was planned and deliberate, not a spur of the moment decision; notes were left. Her pain had been obvious but not understood.
Clinical Depression is a REAL problem. That type of depression is long term, coming and going often without any logical reason for onset or remission. It cannot be treated at home my non-professionals, it ends in ruining lives of family members and spouses, even if not in the eventual death of the sufferer.
You have a good point, a very good point; but the other side should not be ignored, either, as often the results are tragic.

I agree to an extent, however, there are definitely legit reasons to be medicated. I AM on meds for depression & went through many years of not being on it, so I know that personally, I have a mental illness that means that I rely on drugs. Whether or not this is a conspiracy, I don't know. But, you are mostly right. We've become a society of hypochondriacs.

yes, they are in cahoots. Not only that, but it's the insurance companies whom have direct control over the decisions the doctors make regarding health care treatments.Welcome to my world where nothing is as it seems. I wish there were more like you who would open their eyes to the truth. Question the answers!

I heartily agree. From the time we are born, we are medicated "to feel better". So we grow up needing some sort of medication to fix ourselves, which is why sooo many people are hooked on drugs, prescription or illegal. There are many natural ways to relieve ailments and diseases. Anyone interested in further info should go to www.jordanrubin.com.

I fully agree with you. But, why blame doctor? We have to bame ourselves for this. It is we who go to the doctor for small and silly reasons and start pestering him for medications. If he just assures you and sends you back, you start doubting his competency and take a second opinion ! Most of the common illness like Depression, Anxiety, Stress can be treated by home remedy.

In a way I do, however, I have depression and I know if I don't take my meds, I will get depressed. Trust me, I have tried to do without. Studies have proven that people with depression have a different chemistry than "normal" people. So anyhoo, as long as I take my meds, I am just fine!

ya i agree, but i think it has more to do with the people. people today want an easy out or fix. most people don't wamt to stop and think what's really bothering them, or even take time out to just sit and do nothing. by doing nothing i mean sitting and doing absolutely nothing (even t.v.). maybe this after a while overwhelms our bodies and we feel sick.
