I got this game about 3 years ago and 2 years later for Christmas we got a new computer hoping that the Sims 2 would work on it, but it still didn't. When ever I try to install it, it stops at 19% and it says, "A problem occurred when trying to transfer the file 'TSData\Res\Sound\Sfx.1package' from the media." Does anyone know what that means and how to fix it?

I brought it to my grandparents house and installed it on their computer and it worked so I know that the CD ins't bad. It has to be something wrong with my computer, but I don't know what it needs. And I do have Windows XP.

Brittany,

Here's what you do. Go to this site and run tests on your computer to see if it will run your game.
In the black box, pick The Sims 2 - or the version in question

Carefully examine any of the red marks that come out on the test. It will help you figure out what is wrong with your machine. It's possible that some drivers are not installed properly.

You could also run the same test on your gparent's computer and see what a passing test would look like.

Good luck. Gosh I hope you finally get to enjoy your game!!

The above user is wrong, the sims 2 does work on windows xp. Depending on the computer you have you may not have the requirements to run the game. I know what your thinking, but its a newer computer why wouldn't it work. When we got our new computer we had to have an upgrade a video card. Our old computer had this video card while the one we were buying did not. The computers that are rolling off the lines these days have less gaming extras. Usually they have more ram and memory, but do not include gaming extras. This is what makes newer computers cheaper.

Was your old PC working on ME or 98?. If yes, 2 sims game does not work on XP.
