Definition of "persecution"

1. : the act or practice of persecuting especially those who differ in origin, religion, or social outlook
2 : the condition of being persecuted , harassed, or annoyed

I can't answer as a Christian but I can answer how I respond when "persecuted" by Christians. The only time that I regulary question Christians is online, not out in the real world. OTH, Christians have harrassed, annoyed, shunned, etc. me for not believing as they do, outside of the computer room. Other times, they come and knock at my door or stand on the street corner shouting that people will fry in hell.

So tell me, just who is doing the real "persecuting"?

IMO, persecuted doesn't mean what it used to but Christians did their share off hardcore and violent persecution numerous times over the years to those who disagreed with their beliefs.

Anyway, I handle this "persecution" by ignoring them. I don't shout, or argue or confront them. I don't stand out with a sign saying how I disagree with their beliefs or anything like that.

Honestly, I can't say that I've been persecuted much...I've been made fun of in forum type things (such as Yahoo! Answers and game forums where similar things are discussed), but not much in real life...I'd like to think I'd take it well enough if I were to be beaten or otherwise physically persecuted because of my faith, but I can't be sure because that simply hasn't happened.

honestly i' don't beleive here in America that we face real persecution because think about who in america in the last 100 years or so was killed for what they believed . It's sad christians cry about when somebody say's something mean about them but yet in other countries they are dying for even confessing jesus! so i honestly can't say that I ever have been truly persecuted for what I believe

What persecution? Who is preventing you from practicing your religion on your own time and in your own homes and churches? Who is dictating what you do and do not believe? Who is preventing you from publishing your bibles and other religious materials and preventing you from reading them? Who is refusing you broadcast licensing? Who is not protecting your untaxed properties at the expense of those that do pay taxes?

It is christians who insist on special treatment under the law and seek to silence and punish those who reject their mythology. It is christians who have soiled history with forced conversions at sword-point/gunpoint on every continent. It is christians who consistently attempt to limit the liberty of others through any means at their disposal.

Persecution my foot!

They generally respond to persecution by comparing themselves to their Lord and Savior. They nail themselves to the cross and proclaim their piety in spite of the abuse they feel is being heaped upon them.

If you mean by reading anti christian things in the paper or in yahoo anwers or wherever they may be...it doesn't really bother me..just a bunch of weak people flapping thier words in cyberspace....
In my personal physical life...
It seems people go out of thier way to avoid confrontation with me...
I DO NOT look like a church going christian....and also..I have a bad a** reputation from before I became one...I am a christian but I will strike back if hit and not turn the other cheek...sorry but that's the way I've survived thus far.....
like I said...words are words...but I will NOT tolerate any physical violence towards myself or my family!

I pray for strength and wisdom, and I always keep in mind that Jesus warned his disciples that they would be persecuted, as he was.
