Ports are a sweet red but are also very heavy and strong. I suggest very small quantities if you go that route.
Sangrias are a sweet, fruity red wine and you can have fun by adding fruit to it. You can find one in your budget easily in any wine or grocery store.
Reunite Lambrusco is a very inexpensive wine with a soft, almost sweet flavor. I drank that wine a lot when I first started drinking wine back when I was just out of college and was financially struggling.
Unfortunately the best red wines tend to be the dry ones (at least in my opinion).
But if you really like sweet and fruity whites, may I recommend a very delicious and inexpensive couple of wines?
Sutter Home - Moscato or Chenin Blanc (the Moscato is a tad sweeter and the Chenin Blanc is just a tad crisper) both are light hearted, sweet and fruity. They are in the wine section of nearly every grocery store and should be served chilled (as with most whites).
Ultimately you are the only who knows what wines will be agreeable to your palate. I suggest getting some friends together - everyone bring a bottle of a different type of wine all within the price range and just explore.
Good luck and happy wine-ing!

Merlott in a 3 liter Box--yes box --Franzia or something like that is less than $15 and is good! Also, if u like try sunset blush. Not all brands in the boxes taste the same, so please try Franzia--it is the best! No I have no interest, stock or anything closely associated with it.

My husband and I like "Fat Ba*tard" (replace * with "s") Merlot and Shiraz wines. It's not a bad price, and it's been a favorite at some of the parties we have taken it to.
