What hand do you use when doing the sign of the cross? Does it matter if you are right or left handed?? Does it matter at all...are you free to use any hand you want?

Custom is:
In a Western Catholic Church to use your right hand and to touch your head, stomach, left shoulder then right shoulder while saying "Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit!"
In the Eastern Catholic Church it is to use your right hand and to touch your head, stomach, right shoulder then left shoulder, with your first three fingers brought together in a point and your last two side by side while saying "Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever and forever! Amen!"
Only in the loosest sense of the word does it matter. There is a correct way to do it, but the cops are not going to come by and haul you off if you don't.

We do what we do by tradition, both verbal and by action..westerners make the sign of the cross with our right hand...others from the east do it with their left and some also cross themselves three times everytime. It depends where you are from and what rite you practice. Roman rite is with the right hand.

It is customary to use the right hand although I am not sure that using the left is proscribed or anything.

i use my right hand but because i am right handed i never heard of a certain hand u have to use...
