My roommates have two kittens. they were spayed and declawed about 2 weeks ago. over the past week one has developed a bladder infection and has been on antibiotics for 4 days. She still continues to pee all over the place. Today I picked up some of the cat attract littler and placed a 2nd box in the place she seems most to go other than her box, she sometimes uses the boxes, but she will just walk to a corner and pee. My roommates are on vacation and am worried that they won't be putting up with this and get rid of her. It's not my cat, but it makes me sad just to think about it. any ideas on how to get her to just use her littlerbox, or is this something that just happens with bladder infections. Every time i catch her i put her in the box. but i can't catch her every time. I've had 4 cats in my life, but never once had this problem before. I'd appreciate any advice you can give me!

Spaying and De-clawing at the same time, is much to have done. I am familiar with some veterinarians that say it is okay to do them together, but I disagree. The belly is sore, and the feet are tender, and on top of that, one has a bladder infection. These are the reasons that your one baby is not using the litter box. After de-clawing you cannot use the "Clumping Litters", because they do just that, their fine texture can and does get into the wounds of the paws. Use Granules or the Clays for 10 days, then you can revert to the clumping litter.

As for the elimination outside of litter pan, be patience, this will go away once the infection is under control. It's not so-much of her, not wanting to use the litter, as-it-is she can't hold her urine long enough to get into the litter pan. Simply stated, it is like you or I, when we have a bladder infection. We are running to the bathroom constantly. Your baby is too, but just can't hold it, thereby having those accidents.
Good Luck, and Bless Your Heart, For This Is Not Even Your Kitty.

I feel sorry for the kittens getting declawed. Its a very cruel and painful thing to put a cat through. Wish more was said about it so it would stop. You can try keeping the places she has gone as clean as possible - probably get something at a pet store to get rid of the odor. That would keep her from feeling like it was okay to go there again. If you keep up with putting her in her box maybe by the time she is better she will be going in her box all the time. I hope your roommates won't get rid of her.

when cats get bladder infections they can be in quite a bit of pain, when they try urinating in their litterbox the pain is more extreme after a while they start associating their litter box with pain thus they start whizzing every place except the litter box.
In most cases when the bladder infection clears they will usually go back to the litter box but there are cases where it has become a bad habit that will have to be delt with.

Well she needs to be seen by the vet again if her infection isn't clearing up. If you cant get a cage or crate keep her in the bathroom only to confine her space. The best thing is to call a rental place to see if you can rent a small crate that is big enough to have her bed her box and a small area between. But you need to get hold of the person who owns her and let them know she is still having problems and ask if you can take her back to be checked.

Declawing can cause litterbox issues. These issues can be temporary or they can be for the life of the cat. Also since one of the cats has a UTI it may take a few days longer before she is feeling up to using the box.She may even need a second round of AB's. These kittens have been through a lot in the past few weeks..spaying, amputation of their toes(which is very painful) and now one has an UTI to contend with.

Some of the litterbox issue is also being caused by being declawed. Often litter box problems develope after declawing .Unfortunately, declawed cats are disabled, in pain and expensive and dangerous to own. Declawing is the #1 reason why cats urinate outside the litter box. Some declawed cats may always have sensitive paws, and will want a softer litter. Try using a non clay type litter

This sounds normal, Try bathing it with cotton wool soaked in warm water. If it doesnt help within 2-3 days then take her to the vet. I Raised 11 kittens. All had this problem, its nothing to worry about. Just bathe for a few days gently and she should be ok.

You need to check with your vet. There may be an underlying problem. But I would keep the kitten in a kennal or large cage with a litter box and such. At least till it is better.

i would isolate her in the bathroom, for a while to get her back in the habit, and a bladder infection is very painful ! is it a high litter pan, maybe get something smaller, with a smaller lip so she dosen't have to climb or jump in, and if it continues i would call and leave the vet a message and see what they recommend, should you be expecting this? or is this unusal? good luck...

Try some Wee-Wee or some natures miracle stain and oder remover...test for color fastness and use full strenght wherever she's gone...keep up the antibiotics and try to be patient with her, she can't really help it. Good luck
