Ok, when I was like eleven I started neglecting my teeth. Up until I was eleven I had no cavities, or anything wrong with my teeth. Then for some god awful reason I neglected my teeth, I went from brushing them every night and morning to just brushing them like once a day and sometimes only every other day.I know it's disgusting and I am so embrassed and ashamed of my teeth now. I am now 16 and I have a ton of cavities to get filled. I have now developed a fear of the dentist, so much that on the way to the dentist, I start having panic attacks. Is there any way to over come this fear. And please don't say...ew gross or you should of taken better care of your teeth and you wouldn't have problems...cause I hear enough of that from my parents! Please tell me anyways to over come this fear so that I can get my teeth fixed in peace..

Some dentists offer a type of sedative to calm you down. It will make it easier. Just remember that a cavity only gets larger and something small can turn into a tooth not being able to be fixed. Usually when your teeth hurt it's something major. Cavities don't necessarily cause pain unless they are into the nerve. You don't want that to happen. The only way to find out is to go. Remember you only get one set of teeth, they don't grow back like your nails or your hair. Talk to someone, but you should get in very soon.

you fear the unknown. dentists are made out to be alot scarrier than they really are. you have to understand what they are going to do, if you do have cavities they will clean your teeth with something where you choose the flavor, then they will numb your mouth and it is usually strong enough to where it numbs your nose too and feels funny
if you have to get the cavities filled, they will give you laughing gas which will make you practically fall asleep, you can feel anything but you can hear them talking to you while you are in your own spinning world.. im guessing that you are getting high off of it or someting, i dont know how the gas works
but when it wears off you are asked to rinse out your mouth which is hard to do cuz your mouth is numb
but then your teeth are back to healthy and clean
the worst part, in my opinion, about going to the dentist was i could eat anything a half an hour before and after going there
just know the dentist is there to take away your cavity pain and has done this all their life

All you need to think on your way there is that the dentist is trying to help you and if you really care about your teeth you should go. No dentist would ever try to worsen your mouth. He just wants you to have a good mouth. It's like having braces (which I have) I hate them, but I love thinking that I willl soon have straight teeth. Now your teeth may not completly improve, but they will be much better. And the dentist only wants whats best for your teeth.

I have always despised the dentist. Whenever I had an appointment I would get nauseous and severe stomach cramps. I finally started to do a lot of deep breathing and relaxation tips. Something else that really helped me was whenever I had to have work done, I made sure I was seeing a dentist that had "laughing gas". It relaxes you sssssoooooo much and helps you get through it. Hope this helps.

i do no longer in easy terms like the dentist in any respect. i do no longer concern the dentist nevertheless. I concern the hygienist who i comprehend is going to make it harm. The kit are not undesirable in any respect. good dentists are utilising a clean set of kit on each and each affected person and if the kit is state-of-the-artwork, it truly is frequently painless. apart from while the hygienist is scraping plaque.

The only way you're going to get over it is to go. I've had panic attacks when I was learning how to give speeches and debates in front of audiences so I understand first hand how much they suck. Ignore all that hippy bullshit, you get over it by doing not by seeing a damn therapist or taking a pill.
You'll be so drugged up and numbed that your fears are meaningless anyway.

I know its hard to visit the dentist, but it's normal. Everyones scared of it.
Even me.
I get my teeth cleaned every 4 months :D
So a great way to overcome your fear is to believe in one way or another that you CAN do better with your teeth and theres nothing to be afraid of.

talk to the dentist, see what he can recommend. My sisters' dentist's office lets you have headphones and you can listen to cd or watch a dvd on the tv above you. I hate the dentist too, the smell when I walk in makes me wanna vomit!
