Stem cell research is a scientific field that Catholics struggle with.

Some of the stem-cell research is welcomed (Adult Stem- Cell is approved by Pope <1>). As a Catholic, when "Life" is traded for the scientific advancement is when it is damaging to our souls, and society. Much of stem-cell research does need destruction of life (aborted fetus') for the benefits<2>.

We're not opposed to proper stem cell research. We're opposed to using babies as a comodity. There are other ways to get viable stem cells than from dead children.

Placenta stem sells, cord stem cells. All of these have been used for research that has had wonderful results. Whereas stem cells from dead children have had disasterous results.

They are opposed to fetal stem cell research, not adult stem cells. They think that it is taking something that has the potential to become a life and a human and using it for your own purposes to benefit another person. You can't starve a sick person because a healthy person is hungry, or vice versa.

Catholics support "non-embryonic" stem cell research.

Catholics are strongly opposed to "embryonic" stem cell research because the embryos come from aborted human beings.

The Catholic Church is not just against "embryonic" stem cell research, it is pro-life in the widest sense. This is often called a "Consistent Ethic of Life."

This pro-life stance stresses the highest regard for dignity of human life including that of:
- All people in objecting to unjust war and nuclear arms.
- The unborn in objecting to to abortion, in fitro fertilization, frozen embryos, embryonic stem cell research, and cloning
- The elderly, sick and dying in objecting to assisted suicide and euthanazia
- Prisoners in objecting to the death penalty
- The poor and minorities in supporting social justice issues.

With love in Christ.

Only Fetal Stem Cell Research. An embryo is created and destroyed. ALL life is sacred.

I am Catholic and not opposed to stem cell research.

because they'd rather pray for the dead than aid the living--also they think it will encourage abortion--also they believe that people who are in need of the benefits of stem cell research should not be helped, "they just have their crosses to bear"--they are hidebound and closeminded and about as intelligent as the plaster dolls that decorate their facades

Because stem cell research uses the scooped-out brains of dead baby fetuses. If you want dead baby fetuses in you, go ahead. I think I would rather have cancer.

And yes, I know someone who had cancer. He went through Chemo, and the Chemo eventually killed him. If he wouldn't have had it, he would have died peacefully instead of painfully.

Because they don't understand that it isn't killing babies.
They also believe that a man doesn't need to be married.
When the bible clearly states a minister should be a husband of one wife. Raiseing his children in all seriousness.
