Sorry about the misspelling--I did a spellcheck and it didn't show up. I am not against the Scripture don't get me wrong, I am trying to get across the point (Or question) that it might be possible that not all the poor people are his bretheren? What do you think?

Because why would you indirectly benefit Jesus by doing something for the poor when you could worship him directly, right in front of your face? You put Jesus first, then his followers, including the lowly.

Because he knew Judas, He knew Judas didn't care about the poor at all, He just wanted to degrade the gift of the ointment that was being given to Jesus. It's the thought that counts to God, remember the poor women and the two mites. God doesn't care about the amount or whats being offered, silver shekels or ointment, or ram's blood for that matter, Its the act of giving something precious that's important to god.

Read the next paragraph for your answer. Judas wanted to steal a cut of the money. He didn't really care about the poor. And the sacrifice of that ointment was acknowledged as a valid offering to God.

Now you know of course Judas was planning on selling that jar and pocketing the money,it says so.That woman was showing that she understood Jesus was going to die for her,His closest friends just didn't get it until He rose from the dead. Then they are like "Oh...Oh I get it ! Duh!"
But it seemed the women around Him were more perceptive.
Also ,when Jesus said"What you do for the least of these....."
He was really talking about the Great Tribulation period, when it will be dangerous to give a believer even a drink of water.

Doing good to others is what Jesus wants of us...so in his reply to Judas, hemust have known that Judas was not intending to have the money for OTHERS but for THEM -- disciples. You see , hie love for money is so much so that he sold Jesus for just a mere 30 pieces of silver.. also, we do not know what motive was in his heart whereby Jesus sees right through it ! God Bless

Judas was upset with the woman for washing Jesus' feet with very expensive perfume. The woman (possibly Mary of Bethany) was worshipping her Lord God, and when Judas rebuked her, Jesus rebuked Judas, because she did nothing wrong.

Jesus was saying: "I will judge how you treat me by the way you treat your fellowman." How do you know Jesus was upset with Judas? Were you there? I don't think so. Why do you question anything that Jesus did? He was the perfect, sinless Son of God. He never sinned or made any mistakes.

I could be wrong, but I think they were two different quotes. In the first he was trying to tell us to take care of those less fortunate than you. In the lattter, he said that there will always be poor.

Double check the context of scripture again, see below:

Matthew 26

6 Now while Jesus was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper,* 7a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very costly ointment, and she poured it on his head as he sat at the table. 8But when the disciples saw it, they were angry and said, ‘Why this waste? 9For this ointment could have been sold for a large sum, and the money given to the poor.’ 10But Jesus, aware of this, said to them, ‘Why do you trouble the woman? She has performed a good service for me. 11For you always have the poor with you, but you will not always have me. 12By pouring this ointment on my body she has prepared me for burial. 13Truly I tell you, wherever this good news* is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will be told in remembrance of her.’

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" Romans 3:23

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:9-10

Saint Francis of Assisi founded the Order of the Friars Minor based on this text.

The Lesser Brothers.

These little ones, these people in need. Each one of them is the face of Jesus for us. Who ever helps someone in need helps Jesus.

That's how we are to LOVE one another.
