I adopted her from the humane society about a week ago and she is acting funny. Always sleeping and never playing. She is however eating and drinking. She was sneezing a couple of days ago, and today her eyes look really irritated. I can not afford the vet until next week. Does anyone have any ideas before then? Thank you, thank you

She could have an upper respiratory infection - she should be seen as soon as possible because if left untreated can spread and make her EXTREMELY ILL! Call the humane society to see if they have a vet that can see her or if they know of a vet that will take payments based on a sliding scale or something. You shouldn't wait until next week, she needs to be seen much sooner than later. She should be put on antibiotics to treat whatever she has. You can help clean the stuff from her eyes and help clear her nasal way by placing a warm wash cloth over her eyes and nose to loosen up any mucous

Sometimes the humane society has on call vets that can look at recent adoptions, give them a call and check. It's not unusual to adopt out kittens incubating something like this and most responsible organizations offer medical follow up.

Often rescue kittens are exposed to calici virus, or other upper respiratory virus. They can rapidly become deadly serious.

Kittens don't have much reserve in them. This also is CONTAGIOUS! Other cats can get it if they are unvaccinated, or if their immune system didn't use the vaccine right.

In the meantime, keep her eyes and nose clean, and keep her eating high quality wet kitten food. Do call the humane society.

If her eyes are infected, wash them with clean clear water, and put neosporine in them. It's what the vet will give you and it's cheaper.
You do need to get some antibiotics for your kitten, sounds like it's got an infection of some sort. Sometimes you can get some penicillin from a farm store.

Keep her eyes clear with a warm wet washcloth, pulling the gunk away from the eye a couple of times per day. And, cats usually eat when stimulated by smell. If she's really gunky she may not want to eat. Pick up some canned cat food for her.

sounds like an upper respiratory infection, cats that live in shelters tend to get this, keep washing his eye and nose out with a warm wash cloth, watch him carefully, if he starts to get diarrhea give him a 1/4 tab of pepto, until you can take him to a vet, although if it is not severe being away from the shelter it may just clear up, with your help, good luck

she has a kitty cold, you'd better take her to the vet when you can just incase but it's porbably nothing to worry about
when i adopted my kittens both of them needed meds. but we already knew what they needed and had it
the vet might say it's nothing to worry about or he or she might give the kitty something to help it with. i don't know about your cats but with mine the cold wasn't the problem, it was getting them to take the meds. they were feral kitties, tons of fun and trouble ;) and they didn't like the meds...i still have scars...
anyways, i hope you the best for you and kitty, good luck!
it sounds like an upper respretory infection but i'm not vet...
better get it checked out ASAP but in the mean time just keep a close watch on her
