As many people know, the word "Aloha" means many things, including hello, goodbye, love, affection...just to name a few. Yes, "Greetings" in Hawaiian is "Aloha."

FYI...you were misinformed when you were told that "Good morning" is also "Aloha." It's acutally "Aloha kakahiaka."

The various greetings for each portion of the day are as follows:

Good Morning = Aloha kakahiaka
Good Noon/Midday (between 10am-2pm) = Aloha awakea
Good Afternoon (between 2pm and sunset) = Aloha auina la
Good Evening = Aloha ahiahi

Aloha means both hello and goodbye in Hawaiian. I also understand that all Hawaiian words end in a vowel.
