cuz they don't know any better.
anyone who says the army doesn't have much firepower should see what a battery of MLRS can do when they launch an all out attack. what about the m1 tanks? or try facing a helicopter armed with missles and a 'dragon' machine gun. (so called because it shoots so fast that it resembles a dragon breathing fire)
no, u do not have to get more schooling to join other branches. you do not have to be smarter to join other branches.
air force and navy have some pretty hefty fire power, but rarely can get in close to finish what they start.
personally, if i were forced to choose 1, i would say that i think the marines are the weakest branch.. (not to say that they don't have their strong points and uses)

The army is not necessarily the weakest. I think army personnel is relatively well-trained. It's just that if you're in the army, you're more probable to be used as cannon fodder (that is why people were saying that the army was the weakest of the military groups).
With the way that war is being waged changing, that is not quite as true as before since the special forces are seeing more mundane action than before.

The Army is not the weakest, but its not the strongest. The Air Force/Navy have all the Brains, the Marine Corps has all the Strenght, while the Army has People. U can b anything in the Army. I have seen a Company made up of only Laundry people, so u can b anything in the Army. Its not becuz they lack technology. The Army has the best technology when it comes to weaponry an wat not, its just they dont have the Honor in them. I have seen Sergeants, Staff Sergeants, and even more higher ups have rank, but they werent physically fit. The Army has so much money that they promote everyone, regardless of physical strenght. All I know is they have to do 20 push ups, 100 crunches, and run a pretty slow run to pass. And I am amazed at how the Army physical standards here in Iraq. I just dont know how they rank up. But anywho, yeah, the Army Gives away money just so they can have people, while the Marine Corps has a standard that u go through in boot camp. So the Army isnt the weakest, it has strenght in numbers. Thanx 4 the 2 points...BOO-YA!!

People don't really know what their talking about.
The army is made up of strong, individual men, and is not the weakest of the military groups.
They aren't the strongest point either, but they are needed.
People think that their the weakest group because just about anyone is accepted into the basic militia groups, having almost no requirements. This makes people assume that the weak have acess to the army.
People in the army are trained to top shape, and therefore are not weak.
The other groups could be looked upon as "stronger" groups because people usually go into the field of vehicles/marines/airforce with great amount of knowledge in the area already.. requiring less training, and making them a "stronger" wing of the entire military.
However, all of the groups are needed, and no one group is necassarily weaker than any other.

The old army (Korean War and older) use to be cannon fodder and in some countries it still is. It was just OK to train the soldier to shoot a gun and that's about it. Why? Because in some battles the life expectancy was 15 minutes or less. When the military ended and the military has to do more thing, the army is starting to get more mental. Now soldiers have to identify a bunch of stuff, read people and know customs in places they are.

i don't agree w/ that, and i am a NAVY VET! The army needs technicians to operate and repair the electronics on tanks and helocopters. From what i seen on the Discovery Channel there is alot of high tech equipment on these vehicles. also the firepower could compare what the Navy and AF have. This is difficult for me to say 'cause I am very loyal and proud of my time in the Navy, but I cannot say that this statement about the army is true. If this were the case young men and women wouldn't apply to West Point whenever they could pick a "stronger" academy.

That is the biggest lie i ever heard, and for the people who say the Marines are the ONLY and FIRST ones to fight, then answer me this, why is it that the Army has the biggest Casualties out of all the branches?.
Army Soldiers are dying more than any other branch. Now quit saying B.S like that and just support our military. They all fight for the USA!

I don't understand why all forces don't see each other as necessary. The Army, Marines, Navy, and Air Force are a unit, they should act like it and not concern oneself with who is weakest.

Id like to know who these people are. I am sure that it is someone from Navy, Air Force or Marine Corps. These are the only people authorized to make such dumb statements because of the rivalry between them. I always thought that it was airforce because their training is not as rigourous as the other branches. The army is by no means weak because I nearly killed myself just trying to pass basic training. If a branch of the service can take a everyday slacker and turn them into a rifle trained 5 mile a day runner then they are certainly not weak.

the navy minus seals is a taxi service for the marines, air force isn't the military- i.e. only a few are pilots, most sit behind desks, the marines fall under the dept of the navy which makes them weak, and i don't think most realize the active army is 3 times larger than the marines and include Rangers and Special Forces, army = not weak, but when it comes down to it esp. now we're all green
