Getting a tattoo is a big deal, especially because they're designed to be permanent.

If you've thought about it and decided you want a tattoo, make sure you do a little detective work and find a clean, safe, and professional tattoo shop. Also, remember that getting and maintaining a tattoo involves some responsibility — after you leave the tattoo shop, it's up to you to protect and treat it to prevent infections or other complications.

All tattoos will look like they fade a little bit after they have healed. Right after the tattoo is done it is still on top of your skin. When the tattoo heals it is under your skin, and therefore, looks a little lighter. Taking care of your tattoo will also make it heal brighter than it would if you do not take care of it properly.

The most important thing to keep your tattoo bright is to keep it out of the sun, not only while it is healing, but also for the REST OF YOUR LIFE. Constant sun exposure makes your tattoo fade. The sun fades everything, it fades the paint on your car, it makes your hair lighter, and I am sure what you have seen what it does to a newspaper that you leave in a car window. It fades tattoos too. While the tattoo is healing, be sure to keep it covered with some sort of clothing.

Wether you choose color or not is really up to your taste and what you imagine your final artwork to look like.
There are lots and lots of tattoo internet sites with designs, get an idea and try to be creative (I always choose something that I find resembles me or my spirit) and let your tattoo artist help you design the final tattoo.

Here's my favorite tattoo website:

I have had a full color tattoo above my ankle for several years now. The color has not faded because it is in an area that doesn't get much sun but in the summer of course it does get sun.
Over time I am sure it will fade but as for right now its still as beautiful as the day I got it which was about 10 years ago.

As for design suggestions only you know what you want don't rely on others even if its a suggestion go with whats in your heart, what do YOU want on your body permanently?

yellow and red seem to fade the fastest. I have 3 tattoos and even purple colouring has faded it depends on where you get it if they are well known and do a great job you have to ask around for the best place black tatts last almost forever never fade. My designs are a chinese dragon like angelina jolie on my right hip , then on my left hip theres a heart with black flames around it, and i have a huge fairy woman on my shoulder which takes up most of it.. worth it though i wouldnt change them for the world

Color might fade slightly faster... but if you have it done by a reputable shop and stay out of the sun (or regularly put sunscreen on your tat), a color one should be fine and wont require much more maintenance than a black one.

none that will stay for a couple months. you're an adult now, you need to learn to make your own decisions. i just turned 18 too, and my mom said she'd rather see me get tattoos than piercings. here's a quick tip: GROW UP.

Neither is true

it depends all on the qaulity of ink the tattoo artist uses. and your skin tone/color

if its crappy ink..it will fade badly (black or color)..i got a tatto..the artist used crappy ink..now its badly faded. needs to be redone.

I have pretty much every color but brown on my body and they all still look great. I guess it depends on how your body takes ink, the artist, and the type of ink used.
