...We all know that these things are both theories to most of mankind, but, there has to be proof out there. I ask because of other things that have been explained, but ignored. Global warming, rising ocean level. Did you know that man was here before the rainforests of south america? It is proven that the world has warmed up then cooled down more than once. That volcanic eruptions and other naturally occuring phenomena cause more damage than mankinds pollution. Our we being 'Scared Straight'? (remember that flick?) It's worth the couple of points to get you to answer, so....have at it!

Ok...pasting up a diatribe is just wasteful. I asked you...personally....to answer something. BOTH are theories. Science has changed it's decision over facts 1000's of times. Flat earth anyone? Augustine, Nick of Cusa, .....new inventions, new answers. What is said now will most likely be changed as a new device or belief becomes crucial.
Creationism is based on a non-scientific grasp. Believing without seeing. Faith.

Yeah....Nick hit it on the head. It is all faith. Either one. "Mounds of proof" for evolution.....ahem....transitory animal remains? IF a worm grew to a human, would there not be billions of tons of remains that show it? Why just one set of remains, then an updated set of remains, proving a timeline with nothing in between.
Evolution is a religion. It is supported by faith. It is a "we will have all the evidence we need, soon" type of thing.

A FACT is still a fact, even if it can be disproved. Come on, I have a little bit more in my head. I over simplify. But, I have to put it to rest. A theory remains a theory until it is solidly proven as a fact. A belief or faith, is in the person who holds it. It does not need proof. In fact christians, if I am correct, are discouraged from testing God for proof. He said to have faith....without it. This was fun , guys. I hope to continue this debate soon....plus, you can contact me personally for resources and notations.

SHAZ....well spoken. I forget my biology and science classes. Too many years. Hypothesis vs Theory. Stalemate. And, just as a little thing, I still have to know the explanation for the lack of transitory lifeform remains. And maybe that duck-billed platypus. mammal.....avian....reptile??? Yea, man is destroying this world. But, it was expected. I hope my name isn't up for bashing for a while. I just like to learn and try to open my mind a bit....even though I can be stubborn...

There is no proof for either.

As a matter of fact, many leading evolutionists have recognized theessentially "religious" character of evolutionism. Even though they themselves believe evolution to be true, they acknowledge the fact that they _believe_ it! "Science", however, is not supposed to be something one "believes." Science is knowledge -- that which can be demonstrated and observed and repeated. Evolution cannot be proved, or even tested; it can only be believed.

You must have faith that one of these two scenarios are true.

Proof you say. Darwin saw a monkey and so did some other guys, and so there you have the theory of Evolution. Because there are monkeys, therefore we evolved, what other proof do you need?

Jesus was born, Jesus was killed, 3 days later he rose from the dead. This was witnessed by many but that goes back a long way. Most believe this because of faith and because evolution does not make any sense. Jews do not believe in Jesus but believe that God created humans.

The theory of evolution will never be proven, simply, because it can't be proven. Funny, though, how when one answer is debunked, they come up with another answer. First we evolved from monkeys, after that proved to be an idiots theory, then that was changed to common ancestor. But the hardest question about evolution is why? Why would it happen? And better yet why would it need to happen? If we were Ape like creatures why wouldn't we just have kept the apes abilities and developed better minds? Primates are 100 times more agile then humans.

And your statement about climate is true, volcano's cause more harm to the earth then man has ever done or will do. Volcano's have the potential to block out the Sun for years at a time. It may well be that volcanic eruptions caused the ice age.

I can not take you somewhere and show you proof that God exists. Evolutionists can not prove beyond a doubt that they are right. It all comes down to what you chose to believe. The past can not be proven, we can not even agree as to what happened fifty years ago, and people write books about it. How we got into WWII, has about 20 or 30 different stories. Who killed JFK? Another 20 or 30 stories. I was in a chat room the other day and a person said flatly that Nixon was impeached. I said, no he wasn't. And she said, look it up. And I said, I don't have to look it up, I voted for Nixon both times, and know that he resigned because he knew that he would be impeached if he didn't. But don't tell her that, after all she "looked it up."

The answers are simple don't try to confuse yourself with other beliefs, studies, and researches that will get you more lost then you already are. You have to look at the basics, the raw look of life the way you see it through your eyes and not someone elses. Everyone sees the world differently and everyone has their own opinions. That's why no one has found a "true" answer yet.

Here is my view and the way I see the world:
Darwinism: Theory of evolution, "survival of the fittest". It is true that evolution exists but something must exists in order to "evolve" and "adapt". Where does evolution start? How did things come into existence? Something cannot be created by nothing. Only something can create something. Nothing creates more nothing.

This is where creationism comes into play. In order for something to exist it must be created by something like a higher form like "god" for most religions, a creator or Mickey Mouse, whatever, YOU choose as long as you accept the fact that in order for Something to exist, it must come from Something and not Nothing. As said before, Nothing creates more Nothing. Something cannot come from Nothing. If you think you came from nothing, then you yourself are nothing.

Evidence of Creationism? Look at yourself in the mirror. YOU are your own person. There is no one on earth that is exactly like you. You have your own look, personality, and etc. Everybody is different from the next person. There are no 2 people that are exactly alike. If you go to China, everybody looks the same but you can point out the differences of each person if you sat a group of chinese people down in a room. You couldn't do the same if you had a group of animals like ducks, chickens or bears of the same species. We Humans are all created differently, even though there are billions of us. From the beginning we have the power and the ability to create and make changes. We are so far advanced then anything on this planet. To say we evolved from monkeys is in insult. I believe we were created as a human from the beginning until the end which means we will not evolve into something else later on down the line. We will continuely improve but not turn into some other species.

There are no "true" answers, just whatever you believe in and what feels right to you. Don't search the ends of the Earth to find your answers. View the world through your own eyes and find your own answers.

OK I HAVE to start with the "they are both theories" and I want to point out a HUGE difference.

definition of theory: a proposed explanation whose status is still conjectural, in contrast to well-established propositions that are regarded as reporting matters of actual fact.
Theory, hypothesis are used in *non-technical* contexts to mean an untested idea or opinion.
A theory in *technical* use is a more or less verified or established explanation accounting for known facts or phenomena...hypothesis is a conjecture put forth as a possible explanation of phenomena or relations

What does this mean?
In common everyday layman terms they are both theories since neither has been proven 100% true.
In scientific terms Creationsim is a hypothesis and Evolution is a theory which gives much more weight to Evolution's side as it has been tested and verified but acknowledged to not be perfect. This comparison done with a scientific idea about the scientific validity means you MUST use scientific terminology or it is comparing apples to rocket jets

There is lots of proof of Evolution and no proof at all of Creationism.

As for the natural phenomena I would agree the Earth is far more capable of causing shifts than humanity but they tend to be balanced. Volcano erupts and spreads gases and ash..it also creates super fertile soil for plants to grow in which absorb the gases and create oxygen.
What humanity has been doing is adding that little extra push in one direction which throws the whole balance out of whack like kicking the pendulum of a grandfather clock right when it hits the extreme end of one side...throws it all off and possible breaks it beyond repair or at least causes a huge disturbance that takes a bunch of swings to fix.

You want somebody to give you a simple two-sentence answer that will resolve all of this? Sorry, it's not going to happen.

I can tell you that there's no proof of any kind that biblical creationism is correct, and that there is lots of proof for evolution (both of which are true), but if you take my word for it then it's no different than parroting what your preacher tells you on Sunday when he says the earth is 6,000 years old. It's just not that easy.

Go and find the answers for yourself. Read up on evolution science, on biology, on mitochondrial DNA studies, on paleontology, and anthropology. See the evidence for yourself in museums and science exhibitions. Read the cross-discipline literature that links biological evolution to geology, climatology, cosmology, etc. Educate yourself on the issues, then use your own critical thinking skills to reach your own conclusion -- don't just believe me or anybody else. That's the lazy way out, and if you do that it doesn't matter if you "believe" creationism OR evolution, 'cause it's just a belief and not a knowledge of facts.

Yeah, it's hard. Learning truth always is. But it's the only way to go from "I believe" to "I understand" -- then you won't have to ask silly questions like this one any more. :)

Tommy tries to tell you that the evidence of evolution is overwhelming and when faced with its existance the Christians creates an imaginable white bearded man called God in the Clouds as an excuse . I hope he is right .I started asking my questions about this subject matter and all i got were self proclaimed assumptions , suppositions of unimaginable circumstantial coincidences in support of evolution.

All i wanted to know is whether living things can come from nonliving things . in other words can we create a protein from elements . if yes since all living things "proteins" are as a result of gene coding and commands it will be logical to say the first thing to be created whether by Evolution coincidence was a gene . where was this gene kept , how was it possible to create such a complex structure by coincidence even in the most premordial cells .Well the best Abswer i got from a professor was the elements got mixed in by a large wave and the conditions there favoured their formation billions of years ago , well i hope i am correct.

Now judge yourself the professors magi Mix theory . Am i not supposed to believe the Oldman with white beards as the Chief designer ? . I will keep an open mind , science require to answer my questions , reproduce these conditions in the lab and as for now i have a choice and its not looking good for the evolutionists , very favourable for the designer

Employ the TalkOrigins Archive in your search for the truth.

The evidence for evolution is astonishing. It is just as valid a scientific theory as gravity and tectonic plates, and that some people accept one but not the other is hypocrisy in action.

The big difference is that there are ways to disprove evolution, and there are not ways to disprove creationism, thus making it baseless pseudoscience. In the 2005 Dover trial, Michael Behe, a well-known proponent of Intelligent Design confessed under oath that a definition of "science" that would allow for ID would also allow for astrology and phrenology.

ok, I see the conundrum of thought you have there, and we'll get through it, eventually. For now, I have to say something about a theory. If something is called a theory, it is always a theory. Flight is a theory, but we still have pilots. proved it right a million and one times? still a theory. How could we give you proof, we haven't been around longer than you. My thought is that the 2 are not opposing ideas but ignorance of just how long this all took leaves room for a un-ending arguement of things we do not know. but that's all I wanted to say.

This has nothing to do with anything, but you know what's really funny? How creationists will attempt to use science, logic, and reason to debunk evolution, and just when they think they've done it, they'll go, "And since evolution doesn't exist, it's obvious an old white-haired man in the sky made the heavens and earth and all the creatures on it in seven days." I can't imagine the kind of intellectual disconnect and cognitive dissonance it takes to maintain that kind of worldview.

i do no longer think of you may call the McCanns scammers without understanding a super purchase extra effective than any human beings do. Their daughter continues to be lacking. The scam interestingly perpetrated by the Darwins seems to have long gone the way that maximum scams will finally - down the swanee. i think of there are 2 options for a appropriate scam: - start up a faith/sect/church. Oral Roberts - how could there probably be a extra useful scammer in the international? - dictatorship - proceed to be above the regulation

Simply put,
with creationism we have a timeline for this planet that does not include any of the ages prior to the current age which we live in. According to creationism we have been on this planet roughly 5000 years and there were no living beings here previous to that. With creationism we were suddenly created about 5000 years ago, as we are today.

With Evolution you have mounds of scientific evidence that sapn back millions of years. An un-arguable amount of physical evidence including fossils and geological items and a record of beings that existed on this planet for millions of years before any form of hominid is existent. Furthermore we have a fossil record of 'Man' that goes back hundreds of thousands of years including the fossil record of modern man and his ancestors which shows modern man existing on this planet for nearly 15000 years.

Creationism has 0 science to back its claims while evolution has literally millions of samples and studies following strict scientific principles.
