Theoretically nothing happens unless God either causes it to happen or allows it to happen. By this logic everything should be the will of God. If this is the case how does one account for the events stemming from evil?

Jay Z, to tell you the truth I do not think Romans puts God in a very good light at all. I chalk it up to the writings of man rather than as an expression of the true living God.

You were given free will. If you go smoke crack, rob a bank and kill someone is that the will of God? NO that is a choice you made. To find the will of God one prays and listens to the soft voice of God to tell them what to do.

Good question. Notice the smiting belivers dissention in their answers for this one...Ok what I say is a common misconception about God is he is either up there currently pulling strings or he died a while ago. How about this: God created a Law (karma) and created life / matter under that Law. Yes, everything that happens is the will of God. "Evil" as well as "Good" how we see it is an illusion.

No, God is not evil, He is good and loves everyon, yes, he may allow things to happen, but doesn't mean he doesn't love you.od tests your faith so you can get stronger. Just read Job every night before you go to sleep. It talks about bad things happening to good people and the will of God
Read Psalm 32:8

Study Romans. It deals with God's will and God's permission, as well as the logic of blame towards God for evil.

ah, you forgot to mention the whole free will thing. God does have a will, and he offers us the opportunity to follow his direction or the adversary's direction. God blesses his followers and he likes it when we obey his word and direction. Bad things happen because the adversary gets in the way, he acts on another person causing that person to do something bad. God can protect us, and sometimes bad things happen, which we can learn from it, allow it to strengthen our faith, or allow ourselves to wallow in self pity. Hence the free will.

The way I see it, God doesn't necessarily *want* something bad to happen, but he *allows* it. (He also prevents a lot)
If you want a better, more in depth answer, check out Dr. Brian Morley's book "God in the Shadows: Evil in God's world" (it's really good)

No, everything is not the will of God because there is also the will of man. If God only asserted his will then we would have no autonomy and be just robots.

Suppose you toss a die. You have no idea what the result will be. It turns up a 3. You caused the die to turn up a 3, but you did not will it. Cause and will are not the same thing.
Don't ask me what I'm driving at because I haven't a clue!

I think God is balance. "He" is good AND evil, the supreme force which cannot be considered one or the other. He is everything. Therefore, He allows everything to happen.
