Well, first of all, all soaps are antibacterial. Soap damages the cell membrane of bacteria which will kill it. Antibacterial soap, in addition to the soap portion, also have antibiotics for common bacterias. The same antibiotics that a doctor might prescribe to a patient with a skin infection. Many doctors are against using antibacterial soap, or the overuse of any antibiotic, because it can lead to drug resistant bacterias. To really kill bacteria, you need to wash your hands for a minute or two using the hottest water you can tolerate. These are the recommendations used by hospitals doctors and nurses. But, how many people do you know of that wash their hands for a minute or two?

Antibacterial soap has properties in it to fight bacterial germs and disinfect the skin, regular soap doesn't.
