learn how to use excel etc...

$40
$50
---
$10 profit

$48 - 50 =$2 banked
48
56
---
$8 profit

puts you back at $10 profit

after capital gains anywhere between $2.50 and $5

however if you buy each seperately and not from the same money

you make $10 on the first
and $8 on the second
so
18$

If you use the same money from the first gain for the second purchase then you only make the $10

but your initial investment on the $18 is $88
and your initial investment on the $10 is $40

your return is greater on the second one.. 25% (around 1/4
versus just under (1/5th)

that is if you spent $80 for two times the stock initially then you would have 20$ at the end and still not pay have as much cash
tied up..

you get all the money back regadless it just depends how much capital you have to invest.

Assuming one share with no commission, you would have made you made $18.00. You started with $40 and now have $58.

$10.00 per share less broker fees, commissions etc. Usually a percentage of the original amount or pre trade value.
