Why would "God" make animals with things that they didn't need, such as dogs with a little thumb claw that they can't even move, or humans with blind spots in their eyes? There are many examples of vestigial structures in animals. It makes NO sense to me why "God" would give us things that were useless and without purpose. Evolution explains and even predicts vestigial structures. Religion has no explaination.

Typical ignorant answers...:(

Look, folks, gaining real knowledge of fact and truth is HARD. I know it is. It takes effort -- unlike a quick read of parts of the bible and then just repeating what some pastor told you, learning about science and evolution takes real effort. The facts and truth are all out there, available for anyone to read and understand, but it's hard -- when you're reading about evolutionary evidence, and you come across "mitochondrial DNA" and you don't know what that is, you have to go read more to understand THAT. You sould spend your whole life studying to understand this stuff. If you do make the effort, however, you'll understand the difference between fact and dogma, and it will make you a better thinker.

If you're really interested in "truth," you'll read up on all the available evidence on BOTH sides of these kinds of issues, and make your own critically reasoned decisions. If you're not willing to do that, that's fine -- just believe your preacher, spend your time watching the "700 club" instead of learning, and remain ignorant. But by so doing you have no solid gound to stand on when making claims such as "god created me and the earth" or "evolution doesn't explain that." 'Cause you aren't up on the subject, you're ignorant of the issues. Oh, you can still say those things -- but nobody will pay any attention to you since you have no evidence to present one way or the other.

Learning the truth is hard. It takes effort, study, research, and a mind that thinks critically. But if you really want to know "truth" and not dogma, that's what you've got to do.

Um, probably because many Christians believe in micro-evolution.
I'm one of them.
Maybe eventually humans will stop being created with tonsils, or with an appendix. It could happen.
Science explains many of the mysteries of religion, rather than disproving it.

As far as WellTraveled answer goes, I do not attend church, and I have never watched 700 Club. Actually, I had never even HEARD of it until I started coming on here!
I HAVE read books on science and evolution, and I've come to the conclusion that even though there has been MICRO-evolution within species (there is proof of this) there is NO evidence for MACRO-evolution. The fossil record does NOT corroborate MACRO-evolution.
Oh, and since I don't go to church, it isn't my PASTOR who told me this.

So the point of your question is not to gain an answer? But an attempt to make Christians feel silly? Your ploy ain't workin, friend.

Why would God make the Platypus? The Kangaroo?

How does evolution explain a horn on a whale's head? Or why we have hundreds of different species of the same animal?

Evolution does not explain these things.
