I wanted to know did you finish your prerequisites and then transfer to optometry school or if not what step did you take?

Well I'm not in the Optometry field, but it's not necessary to do it the way you stated. Go straight to optometry school if you like, if you want to save cash then do your prequisites at a cheap community college in the area.
