These girls are my step-daughters. I'd like to get them something they will really love. They are spoiled and pretty much already have everything. What about small gifts and then some money and just take them shopping for what they really like? Does that take the fun out of christmas at their age?

They have every gaming station on the market. The ten year-old has an ipod (and a cell phone courtesy of her mother). But...the eight-year old has mentioned those "skate shoes"

I know this is probably spoiling them further, but it will really feel great to them to be treated to a "day at the spa" with you. Take them to a local shop to have all three of you a manicure/pedicure and if you have it in the budget maybe a hairstyle/cut. They will feel so grown and pampered they will really thank you for it! Girls these days love to feel fashionable at a younger age.

What do they really like? The 8 year old may like BRatz dolls. Ask them about it. They have dolls, clothes, cars, etc. If you want a bigger item they would probably like a CD Player, MP3 player, portable DVD player or a Nintendo DS. There are also skate shoes called Healies that kids that age love.

Yes, I think that the magic of money and the magic of Christmas have nothing in common. A child can be happy if he feels that you give him love, even if that love comes as a candy, a cake or a small book.

its probably best to take them out yourself. but if you say they are spoiled, you definetly need to think of something that they can always use and remember... maybe a photo album, as that will last.
toys will go but memories and pics will remain i guess.
get some toys too

8 year olds are NOT too old for barbies, 10 year olds aren't either.
