I stopped using Pillsbury mixes for that very reason! Even though they had a good flavor, they were always very low. What is up with that? I use Duncan Hines most of the time, they bake up very high and even.

I'm sorry to hear of your trouble with Pillsbury cake mixes -- because Pillsbury is the only brand I'll buy! I usually will overfill the pan just a bit, lower the temperature by about 25 degrees, and cook it a few minutes longer, until a cake tester comes out of the center clean and dry. I have such good luck with it, in fact, most people think I bake the cake from scratch.

A lot of restaurants, country clubs, and other food service businesses will use Pillsbury cake mixes in their kitchens and bakeries -- that's why I decided to give it a try.

I hope you find a brand that works for you!

I don't recall having this problem with Pillsbury cake mixes, then again I next to never buy them. It's too easy to make a cake from scratch to spend money on a cake mix that isn't up to par!

yes I also had the same problem. I have switched to betty crocker cakes and they are more even and fluffier. If I were you I would just ditch that brand of cake mixes. That is what I did! Happy Baking!

i always made my cakes from scratch, that is until i attended a wedding and had the BEST cake i ever ate!.....the baker was kind enough to to share her secret...........it was a duncan hines cake mix, but the secret is to double the eggs and double the butter! (use only real butter, and if the eggs are especially large, then just use one more than recipe calls for) (i also use added flavorings on occassion, even crene de cocoa liquer with ny chocolate cake, or any flavored liquer)........i've been a happy cake baker ever since!........try it!

If you add baking soda or baking powder or even flour check it's expiration date. This will make it flat.
