I'm a strong believer in God and I'm a christian but I'm getting way in over my head. I've suffered from depression for years now. Situations at home life aren't very good and I tend to hold it in, now, I know people say just talk about it blah blah but it's not that easy. Especially the severity of this. I'm 17 and I've been going through it since I was 11 or younger. I attempted suicide in 10th grade, I'm now a senior (12th) and I've started cutting myself again. I try to pray and call out to God and let him help me but it just doesn't. I try and believe and proclaim that he will bring me through these things or at least let me deal with them better but it's been my whole life nothing has happened. =/ I just need some support or something.

I do go to therapy (once a week) and a psychologist when needed. But it's still hard.

I am praying for you. I understand about the cutting. Many do this in order to feel things as they feel numb. Are you on medication? That may help. You obviously have things to deal with, most likely sexual abuse. Please email me if you want to talk.
Peace Be With You,
Debra

I agree. You do need some help. What you are experiencing is not somthing you should deal with your self. Prayer and Faith will help but you need to talk to some one. I know how hard that can be but maybe start with a school councilor. They are required to keep anything you talk about confidential and if they feel they can't help then they can find some one who can. This way it is out of your family system but still contained so you don't feel like you are hurting your family in any way. Don't let this go another day.
If you don't know then instead of praying for faith and strenght ask if this is what you need to do. Stop and listen and feel the spirit of God fill you. You will know if this is the right thing for you to do. God bless you I hope things work out.

Hey, I totally relate..I have been there..exactly where you have been..You know what I did? I prayed and I mean prayed, not these "God help me" I prayed everywhere and everyday. I wrote how I felt I read the Bible..read Psalms and reflect on it. God doesn't want you to cut yourself..and you know why? It mocks Christ..Christ was whipped...those are what your scars represent..so don't give into the Devil..and Secondly, I got help..yes talking may be hard, but do you think keeping it inside is helping? Go talk to your parents or a trusted teahcer or pastor..don't talk to your friends..and it might sound mean but it puts a lot of pressure and worry on them. I will be praying for you..and I hope you don't remain in this state because God loives you so much and doesn't want you to be in this situation. Remember that. Get help. And when you do, you will look on those scars and remember how far God has brought you
Good luck!

See you need to give your whole heart to Jesus not just some of it you need to give Him all of it everything good and the bad. First is to do this then understand that when you ask God for forgiveness that he gave it to you. Don't dwell on the past and the past hurts move on!! Get to know the God you believe and trust in Read the Bible and learn the promises that God has given to you! You must learn who you are and what God say's about you . If your looking for a miracle fix and all your problems will be gone you got it all wrong . Start realizing what makes you depressed and quit meditating on those things you have to change your thinking ! until you make that descion nothing will ever change .See if you think you ask God to do something and poof he does your mistaken .God makes the way avalible but you gotta get up and start walking down it for something to happen. If you wanna be delivered start acting like it!! God has already mapped your life out but you must choose to walk down the right roads! ever need someone to talk to just drop me a line! I understand that other people tell you to go to people for help but God will provide those people when the time comes but you need to step up to the plate and be responsible for your own actions and realize your only hurting yourself . I know I sound harsh but it's only because you need the truth nobody can help you more than God so Get connected

This is a set of circumstances in your life where you need to get some good proffessional help. You need someone to help you go inside and find out how you think you benifit from harming yourself. That is not an easy answer to come up with on your own. It is also possible that you have a chemical imbalance that needs to be delt with. Yahoo Questions, as good as it may be is not the place where you are going to be able to deal with something of the depth and scope you have written here.

Yes, you do need support. And sometimes the crisis is so loud that it's hard to tell that God is very near and a very present help in trouble.
Don't try and tackle this on your own. And don't give up on God. Ask Him to point you to where you can find the support that you need and trust your instincts.
I'm praying for you even as I'm writing this.

My mum had a saying "God helps those who help themselves". You are now 17, so it is time that you take control of your own life, you cannot rely on anyone, or anything, 100% of the time.
Set your targets, make them realistic, then see how YOU can work towards them. If you get some assistance from somewhere, all well and good. If not, be prepared to go it alone. That way, the sucess will be yours.

Do you have a mentor of some kind? Some one you can talk with at any time? Look into getting one. I think it will help. Someone who's been there and understands what you're going through. Not someone who is going to boss you around.
Cutting yourself is your way of controlling yourself. Literally putting your own pain in your own hands. The last thing you need is someone else telling you what to do. You need a compassional listener. A help-mate.

sounds a little demonic to me. A shrink would say clinical depression take drugs, but there are legitamate exorcism groups, and they are pretty much free. In Texas there is a group called Vision Quest, you might use them to find a place or group. If you have insurance then check out couseling or at many bg churches there is counseling provided free or cheap.
