Oh, please, please have faith in yourself!
You've already taken the first and perhaps hardest step: you know that what's happening is not right and that you want to fix it. You are not ready to accept this because you set high standards in life. (People who work at McDonalds usually do not).
If you're having a problem in math, talk to your parents about it, talk to your teacher, and your guidance counselor. Some people just take a little longer to "get it", but usually those people are better at putting it to practice in real life.
You may need to stay after school to get the extra help you need, or you might have to get a tutor. Don't be embarassed; everyone has to at sometime or another. It's not the end of the world!!!
Make sure that when your teacher is giving instruction you are really trying to focus on what he or she is sayiing and you're taking notes. You can even compare with your friends notes and form a study group with snacks and you all help eachother with your homework. This doesn't have to be as intense as it is for you now. I know how it is. You're NOT DUMB. Never tell yourself that again for me!
About killing yourself, I'm not sure if you were lightly dropping that as an expression or if your serious. Please don't take offense when I say you should get help. Just stop by the guidance office one day and say you need to talk. I'm sure that the guidance counselor can keep things confidential if that's how you want it to be.
Good Luck! You sound like you are really smart but just having trouble in math. I have a friend that's just like this and I know how you feel. She's really smart too, and I know this because she's starting to take action and get extra help. You can too!!

See if you can retake the course with a different teacher and see what you may have missed in previous years of school. If you missed something important, you may just not be understanding something you were suppose to have learned last year.
Also, the teacher makes a huge difference. I never did good in Math... Freshman year I got a D.. the teacher was being nice too..
Next year I go to a different school and I have help from my step dad -and- I have a better teacher that can explain things better. I did better that year. The teacher -was- tough, but she was a better teacher. The year after that I could actually understand most of the math I was doing if I studied and did my homework.
Good Luck!

Get the book called Painless Algebra (it is actually pre-algebra stuff). I had the exact problem you have, but I am in college now. 2 years ago, I got the above book as a gift. I recently passed calculus with an A-. I surprised even myself. It is really just a matter of how the material is presented. Unfortunately, most teachers don't realize that. I still do not consider myself good at math - but it doesn't scare me as much...

Lots of really smart people have trouble with math, especially at your age. You might surprise yourself one day when it starts to make sense. Keep doing your good work in the other classes, and maybe get a friend to help explain the math.

Find a tutor. My daughter had the same problem and it helped her. She now has a masters degree(not in math). Don't let it get you down some people just do not get it.

PRINCESS YOU NEED TO GET YOUR SELF A TUTOR AND TELL YOUR SELF THAT YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE "a' IN MATH. THEN GET DOWN AND DO IT. IN MATH YOU CAN NOT MISS ANY HOME WORK OR MISS ANY ASSIGNMENTS BECAUSE YOU ARE CONSTANTLY GETTING NEW THINGS IN MATH. IF YOU MISS ONE LESSON THEN NEXT LESSON REQUIRES YOU TO USE SOMETHING YOU MISSED IN THE LAST LESON SO YOU SEE YOU CAN NOT SKIP CLASSES OR SLUF OFF YOUR ASIGNED WORK. MATH IS EASY IF YOU STAY WITH IT AND DO ALL ASSIGNED WORK IN FACT IF YOU GET WITH THE PROGRAM ITS SO EASY AT TIMES ITS DOWN RIGHT BORING. IF YOU MAKE "A" AND "B" IN YOUR OTHER SUBJECTS I KNOW YOU CAN DO IT IN MATH ALSO. YOU JUST HAVE TO WORK AT IT AND DO NOT SKIP ANY OF IT. BEFORE YOU COMIT SIDEWAYS YOU E-MAIL ME AT ROY40372@!YAHOO.COM PLEASE.
