I think you can use these items during your stay, but i've heard of several of my friends tell me to stock up everytime they put diapers/formula under the basinette.

For the person who left a rude comment saying I cant afford these items you need to get a life! Of course I can afford these things, I'm married and my husband takes care of me! I just asked because its always nice to get free things. I know plenty of people who have alot of money but still use coupons at the grocery store!

oh yeah! thats what i did and the nurses did not mind at all, in fact they brought me a half pack of diapers to take home because the ones that i had brought were too small for my baby (he weighed 9lb 14oz). they take care of you at the hospital thats what they are there for (and other things). The nurses also gave me a diaper bag with Enfamil samples and coupons in it and also a Medela hand pump kit too. So i think you should be in good shape while you are there. And if you aren't sure, you could just ask the nurses if it okay that you do take some things (but don't be too greedy lol). Good luck hun and the best of wishes to you and your little one!!

I suggest taking any leftover diapers, formula, even tissues and those bed pads home with you - you pay for every thing anyway so once its in the room its yours- I took everything home with me i even asked for a couple more bottles of formula and you can get a free diaper bag with stuff in it from similac or which ever formula company you chose - just go on there web site

I'm pretty sure they're intended to be taken. My discharge nurse told me specifically that everything but the hospital blankets and nursery shirt were for me to take. The diapers I got at the hospital were the best ones for newborns! I tried the ones(the expensive ones I might add) I had bought at the store but they sure didn't work as well as the hospital packs.

Take everything you can because it is getting put on your hospital bill anyway! To me it's like going to the grocery store paying for all the groceries but not taking it all home. Regardless of whether you can afford the supplies or not, take it!

Girl I say to go for it. When I stayed in the hospital after my birth, I took advantage and took everything I could. It doesnt make you a cheap person or a bad person. You are just taking extras that will help at home. So don't listen to anyone and stack up. Everyone does it even celebrities.

i don't remember the diapers. but the formula, they usually let you take it home. you don't know what the baby is going to be able to drink. baby's become sick on some formulas. they have to try the milk out to see what kind the baby will be able to drink. this way the hospital will give you a few days of formula before going to the store. good luck, and congratulations on your baby. there sooo precious.

Of course! That's what they're there for. I even asked the nurses before leaving if I could have it and I was told everything in the drawers in the bassinet were meant as a gift for moms.

I agree! We took everything that wasn't nailed down, too! Maternity underwear, pads, diapers, formula, the pink blankets from the bassinet, and yes, the t-shirt that was proudly stamped "SIMI VALLEY HOSPITAL" across it so she looked like a mental patient.

I did this with my 1st child but she was born 27th December no shops were open so the nurses were understanding as you cant buy food until baby born as he/she may dislike it and then its a waste most hospitals don't mind so long as you ask
