What a friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and griefs to bear
What a privilage to carry
Everything to God in prayer.
Oh what peace we often forfeit
Oh what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer

Have we trials and temptations
Is there trouble anywhere
Precious Saviour still our refuge
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share
Jesus knows our every weakness
Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Will these words encourage you to bring everything to God in prayer?

To be perfectly honest, I find most Christian hymns rather lifeless and unbeautiful to the ear, with the exception of a handful of Christmas carols that actually manage to have some pulse and verve. On the other hand, I find sacred works for orchestra and chorus, like Handel's "Messiah" and Vivaldi's "Gloria," magnificent. They lift the spirit beyond the heavens--but for all their power, no, they do not encourage me to believe that prayer has any power to alter reality.

saxquiz: At one time there was no cure for anything, I think prayer for healing IS the reason we have medicine and treatments.

Hayden: Do you ever wonder why you hate life? It's because you don't have Jesus in your heart. It's simple. Ask Him in! Get into a good bible based church and start living! Life is GREAT!!!

I grew up singing that. It's a beautiful hymn, but my favorite is Amazing Grace.

I know the hymn from back when I was a Christian. I just sang along with the words. Prayer is useless though. Science has proven that it does not cure diseases.
