The first death is a physical death, and, yes, we all face that.
The second death is a bit more of an issue...to be tossed in the incinerator and burned up like so much trash isn't a nice thing to contemplate, even though it doesn't last forever, it results in total non-existence.

Remember that at one point almost all Christians were Catholic and that Catholic law was both religious and actual. It isn't enough to die. Everyone dies. You have to burn forever to keep people afraid of the afterlife. Also, the bible does mention a lake of fire in revelations where sinners would be tossed into, so this fear isn't totally unfounded. I don't care either way, death and pain is death and pain that I don't want to go through.

It is what God teaches in the Holy Bible:
Pro 15:24 The way of life [is] above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.
Mat 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
2Pe 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast [them] down to hell, and delivered [them] into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
Luk 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
GOOD NEWS
Rom 5:21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

That particular scripture refers to a spiritual death, not a physical one I mean we all die physical death, and if sin gave you a something we are all going to have happen to us, then its not so bad.
the definition of sin actually means "to miss the mark."
The spiritual death spoken of in the bible refers to a separation from GOD, you could have studied this for yourself and figured it out on your own.
This death that the bible refers to is something you must do everything you can to avoid.

The one who embraces sin embraces the one who is given the power of death, Satan the devil.
Failure to accept Christ leaves one subject to the eternal domination of Satan, who is destined for an eternity in hell.
Those who choose Satan get to share in his fate.

Death in this case means spititual death.
In the below verse Yeshua likens sin to a thief who comes to steal life or to kill. Yeshua has come to give spiritual life.
John 10:10 10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Death in that verse means eternal death, or separation from God for eternity in hell. So its the same thing.

Hi,
Because a "christian" is one who BELIEVES in the words of CHRIST/BIBLE.
Rev 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
Rev 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
LIFE IS ETERNAL.
WHETHER IN TORMENT OR PARADISE.
GOD DOES SAY THAT IF WE DESIRE TO UNDERSTAND HIM THROUGH HIS WORD, HE WILL MAKE IT POSSIBLE OF US TO BE WITH HIM 4EVER, OTHERWISE HE IS CLEAR THE 4EVER SEPERATION.
*BUT WE EXIST ETERNALLY.
IT IS WORTH KNOWING WHERE YOU ARE GOING WHEN YOU GO. -LIVE4TRUTH=]

that is why we die on earth, because of sin, and that is why sacrifice must be made to atone for sin. life with Jesus after death is possible because of death. So as hell is the place where atonement was never made.

Misery loves company, most religious people are victims of fear, they feel it is there duty to spread that fear to anyone who will listen.
