Toothache usually refers to pain around the teeth or jaws. The most
common cause of a toothache is a dental cavity and the inflammation
of the pulp(pulpitis) Sometimes a toothache may be due to non-dental
reasons like infection of the ears and sinus. If a tooth is affected
home remedies like clove oil can provide temporary relief, but it is
advisable to visit a dentist for a long term solution. More information

Extra Strength Excedrin works wonders on a toothache. If you are able to take aspirin, go to the drugstore and get some. Take only two, and, if in 20 minutes your toothache is not gone, take one more (only). Do not take any more until you have waited four hours. If you take it, and then drink some warm water - or crush the aspirin and mix it in with food, you will feel relief in less than 30 minutes (15 minutes for me).

THEN, call the American Dental Association, and ask them for the nearest dental school to you. Dental schools are a less expensive alternative to seeing a regular dentist. Do not let your teeth go without seeing a dentist. Dental health is tied to the overall health of your body (especially your heart). So, it's important to get rid of the pain this evening, but then tomorrow, make that call. Google "dental school" and your state's name to find the closest dental school to you. If you cannot afford to see a dentist, you might qualify to see a free dentist. Call your local county health department and you could also try 1-800-DENTIST to see if they have any resources for free or reduced care.

I hope the Extra Strength Excedrin works for you, too, and keep your mouth clean. Brush after you eat or drink anything. Rinse your mouth with warm water, to which you add a few shakes of salt.

I am in the process of a horrible toothache myself but you can lessen the pain by taking a couple of tylonal (or advil, asparin, whatever you use for headache or pain. brew a cup of tea (Good strong tea, leave the tea bag in) slowly drink the tea holding the tea in your mouth a few secounds before swollowing, this is as good, in my opinion as the warm salt water remedy, which is also good. you can also take the tea bag out of the water and squeeze the excess water out and place the tea bag directly on the troubled tooth, there is something in tea, tannic acid that toughens up the gums and acts like a "number" you can also take an asparin and place it on the tooth too., until it desolves. It helps to be in a reclined position , prop your head up with pillows , make sure , even though it may hurt, to brush your teeth softly and use a full strength antiseptic mouth rinse several times a day to keep bacteria out of the sore tooth. avoid any cold drinks. even breathing with your mouth open can cause the tooth to throb with the intake of air. I sympathize with you, and believe me I tried it all . If you want to resort to an over the counter remedy Oragel medicated toothache swabs have given me relief too, they look like cotton buds(Q-tips) you snap the tip off and swab the other end that has a measured amount of novocaine in it to the bad tooth , good luck.

I hate that (I have a toothache as well)!
Start using a rinse like Crest Pro-Health, it can't hurt. I pop 2 Aleve in the morning and I am good for the day. Rinsing with warm water and salt is a good thing to do as well. It does taste horrible but it is effective.

okay here's my home remedy - it works but can you handle it ? Keep water in your mouth ALL day. Okay that comes to drinking about 5-6 bottles of 16.9 ozs but after one day - you will feel better. not a quick solution but it works primarily by constant flushing. HAd an abcess and that helped me for awhile !!!!

Call your doctor and see if he can put you on an antibiotic if needed. You really need to do something soon before that infection spreads through your body. Call some clinics near you or try asking some of the dentists if they can take payments. Good luck and get that taken care of ASAP!

Anything you do will only be a temporary fix. I suggest going & getting an extraction if you are not interested in fixing your teeth. Until you do, you will continue to have pain. You must have an infection and if you get antibiotics and pain killers, it will cure it for the time being, but the pain will be back again. Good luck!
