God didn't say to Adam "You're going to hell if you eat it!". He said "ye shall surely die".

Genesis 3:19 .....for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou retun".

When Adam sinned, he messed up his Spirit.
That messed up Spirit keeps you out of Heaven and was passed on to Everybody Else.
That is why you have to get Born-Again (Spirit Recreated) to get to Heaven.
Religion cannot Recreate your Spirit.
Jesus Christ can.

But really isn't this a silly story anyway. An all knowing, all powerful god who puts knowledge into some kind of fruit? He didn't need the knowledge . So why did He make it ? Surely He didn't try to entrap some innocent human just to test the loyalty of the man at a time when there were no other gods to bow to. Do you really believe in a god that was so insecure when He actually had no competition?

This is a wonderful point. He gave two comandments. First and most important was to Multiply and replenish the Earth. Second was to not partake of the Tree of Knowledge of good and Evil. Both could not be kept and here the Plan of Salvation was ment to come into play. They had to choose to either except death and sin and pain into their lives or choose to never know joy and beauty of raising a family. We as spirits watched in anticipation. Eve chose to follow the greater comandment. To partake and replenish the earth. Adam when he saw what eve had done chose to follow her example rather than being seperated from her. When confrounted Adam said, "The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat" This was not a statment of blame but rather an explanation of why he chose to break that comandment. He knew the greater must be followed. Both Adam and Eve should not be blamed for our state but rather praised for choosing our lives over their comfort.

Do you think god, being alone and lonely, just tried to make a couple of best friends for himself? But being a prankster and a tad on the passive-aggressive side, decided to give them a test that he knew they would not pass? Then when they didn't pass the test, he tossed his new best friends out on their ear?

But then he got lonely again and impregnated Mary. And we all know the end of that story. Do you think, instead of sacrificing his only son, he should have sacrificed himself? I mean, would you sacrifice your son for any reason? Or would you take a bullet for him instead?

Yes, and so the curse of sin was passed onto each of us.

For all have sinned and fallen short of God's standard.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.

Adam didn't go to hell. By eating the apple he condemed the rest of us to the 'option' of going to heaven or going to hell. He would have lived forever on earth had he abstained.
