You need to shower! A piercing is a wound, a wound has to be cleaned in order to keep away infection. That is common sence. Wash your navel with fragrance free/dye free soap. It doesn't neccessarily have to be antibacterial. Dove hand soap is really gentle, and makes your skin soft, plus it smells really well. You're not required to move the jewelry back and forth. This can get soap trapped in the piercing, and that's not good. Plus, moving the jewelry around can cause trauma and this can set the healing time back, and healing time for navels is already long enough *6 months-1 year* Before you're in the shower mix 1/4 Sea Salt *not table salt this has iodine in it and can burn... Sea Salt is iodine free* (Kosher Non-Iodine Salt will be fine) with 1 cup hot water in a cup. Put the cup to where it forms a seal around your navel, and hold it on there for about 5-10 minutes. This will draw out any lymph *the white stuff and crusty stuff* and help reduce the amount of redness. Then be sure to get all the salt off when you take a shower. Using too much salt, or leaving the salt on can cause your skin to dry out and itch. Scratching it can really cause some problems.

Congrat's on you piercing? Did it hurt??
When I got my navel pierced, I bought some anti-bacterial soap to wash it off. What I would do is that in the shower, I would pour excess amount of soap on the piercing and the navel ring to wash it off. I know it is probably a little tender right now but when washing you navel, try to move the jewelry back and forward. Rinse it off. If i had to give you 1 advice, it would be to dry it off really well. Use a Q-tip and make sure to dry everything. You do not want any humidity left...that will cause an infection!

You can shower or bathe but still clean the piercing when you get out to insure there is no residue or soap left on it. You can clean your navel piercing in the shower, but be sure to rinse clean so nothing gets into the wound or irriates the piercing.

Of course you can! Do you not take showers after you get your ears peirced? Just make sure to clean the area thoroughly after you get out of the shower the peircing place should have given you a lotion if not use bacitracine around the piercing to fight off bateria. Good Luck

Should be OK. Just don't use any harsh soaps that may irritate. Just keep it clean and you should be OK.
