It is immediate release in all other preparations (Oxy IR, Percolone, Percocet, etc.) The main difference between Oxycodone and Hydrocodone is that Oxycodone is a bit stronger. They are BOTH synthesized from Thebaine, which is synthetic codeine. Neither is synthetic morphine.

oxycodone is the active ingredient in percocet and oxycontin. Its more potent than hydrocodone which is the active ingredient in vicodin. oxycodone is a schedule II narcotic. hydrocodone is a schedule III narcotic.
